For example, Taiyuan began to enter the territory of the State of Jin. In the second year of Emperor Xiang of Qin Zhuang (in the 18th year of Zhao Haoqi, in the first 248 years), the general of the State of Qin attacked Zhao, taking Yuci, Wolf and Meng, and Taiyuan into Qin. The following year, Taiyuan County was established in Jinyang, which was the beginning of Taiyuan County. At the prosperous time of Kaiyuan, Taiyuan government ruled Jinyang.

On September 1949 and 1, Shanxi Provincial People's Government was established, and 19 counties under the jurisdiction of Taiyuan Municipal People's Government were handed over to the provincial people's government.
