There are many things you can eat:
1. Eat rice flour. On the Hungry Ghost Festival, Dongguan has the custom of eating rice noodles, and it is common throughout Dongguan. Of course, the methods of eating rice noodles are still different in different regions. Lai powder is a traditional food in Dongguan’s longevity banquet, which means longevity, good fortune and longevity.
2. Steamed noodle sheep. In old Beijing and rural areas of North China, it is a popular custom for grandfathers and uncles to give live sheep to their nephews on July 15th. Legend has it that this custom is related to the legend of Agarwood splitting the mountain to save his mother. After Chenxiang cut a mountain to save his mother, he wanted to hunt down his uncle Erlangshen who abused her. In order to restore the friendship between brother and sister and uncle and nephew, Erlangshen would give Chenxiang a pair of live sheep on July 15th every year. It is said that this was to take Erlangshen and Chenxiang. The homophonic pronunciation of the mother's surname "Yang" is to reunite the two families. From then on, the custom of giving live sheep to uncles remained among the people, and later gradually evolved into giving a pair of opposite sheep.
3. Eat steamed buns. Before July 15th, dough sculpture activities are popular among folk women, especially in northern Shanxi. A family is steaming steamed buns, and neighbors come to help. First, according to the actual number of people in the family, make a big steamed bun for each person. The flower buns given to the younger generation should be kneaded into a flat shape and called noodle sheep, which means the lamb kneels down to suck milk. I hope the younger generation will not forget the kindness of their parents in raising them. The flower buns given to the elders should be shaped into a human shape, which is called a noodle person, which means that the family is full of children and grandchildren, and they have both happiness and longevity; the flower buns given to the ordinary people should be shaped into a fish shape, which is called a noodle fish, which means that they will have more than enough year after year.
