Today, I read an Hans Christian Andersen story called The Princess Pea.
The story takes place a long, long time ago, when a prince wanted to choose a princess to be his bride, but months passed without finding a suitable one.
That night, it was raining heavily. There was not a single pedestrian on the street, and the king and queen had nothing to do, so they asked their servants to close the door. Suddenly there was a knock at the door, and the king opened it and saw that it was a young girl, who said she was a princess and wanted to stay the night, and the king invited her to the palace. But the queen was a little skeptical about the princess's identity. She put a tiny pea under twenty mattresses and twenty duck down quilts.
The next morning, the princess said she couldn't sleep at night, not knowing what was pinching her. The queen was delighted to hear this, and thought that this was a real princess, and that only a real princess could feel a tiny pea through twenty mattresses and twenty duck down quilts!
This story tells us that sometimes, to get to the bottom of something, you have to figure out how to fix it.
You see, the queen tried out the real princess with a tiny pea.
