Basic copper carbonate is also called copper rust and copper rust, and its chemical formula is Cu? (oh) CO? It is a fine amorphous powder of malachite green produced by the reaction of copper with oxygen, carbon dioxide and water vapor in the air. Heating in air will decompose into copper oxide, water and carbon dioxide, and dissolve in acid to generate corresponding copper salts.
Physical and chemical properties:
Insoluble in cold water and alcohol, decomposed in hot water and dissolved in acid to form the corresponding copper salt. Dissolved in cyanide, ammonia, ammonium salt and alkali carbonate aqueous solution to form copper complex.
When boiled in alkaline carbonate solution, brown copper oxide will be formed. Unstable to hydrogen sulfide. Heat to 200℃ to decompose black copper oxide, water (small water droplets formed by condensation when cold) and carbon dioxide. Unstable in hydrogen sulfide gas.
