Eragrostis curvata is a xerophyte with developed root system and stout fibrous roots, with a length of 30-60 cm, a buried depth of more than 50-80 cm and a root width of about 60-90 cm. It has strong cold resistance and can be planted in areas with annual precipitation of 300- 1700 mm, and is most suitable for growing in dry and cold areas with annual average temperature of 5.9-26.2 degrees, especially in sandy slopes, forest edges, farmland edges, highway slopes and areas where vegetation is destroyed. With strong growth ability, it is a good plant for soil and water conservation, especially in sandy soil with dry habitat conditions, which grows well, breeds new individuals and forms dense grassland. It can not only reproduce asexually, but also reproduce through seeds. Seeds scattered around every year can germinate and grow new branches in the next year under suitable conditions, and the growth rate is very fast. It has extensive ecological plasticity and can adapt to a variety of complex environmental conditions. The requirements for soil are not strict, and it can grow normally in the range of soil pH 5.0-8.2. Fertile soil can grow in semi-arid or even desert areas, but it needs good drainage conditions and is most suitable for planting on fertile sandy loam. Strong ability to resist pests and diseases, has been widely used in highway slope protection, bank protection and dike protection and soil and water conservation.
Widely distributed in temperate regions all over the world, most commonly in Korea, Japan, India, the United States, Canada and Australia. High-quality spring grass seeds can be planted in North China, South China and Southwest China, mainly in Sichuan, Guizhou, Yunnan, Hunan, Hubei, Guangxi, Fujian, Jiangxi, Guangdong, Anhui and other places, and are often mixed with Bermuda grass and Bahia grass.
