Prescription name: prepared epiphyllum, cooked epiphyllum, light epiphyllum, black epiphyllum block, cannon epiphyllum.
Nature and flavor: Pungent, hot and poisonous. Attributes to heart, kidney and spleen meridians.
Effects: Returning yang and rescuing rebelliousness, tonifying fire and assisting yang, dispersing wind, cold and dampness.
Treatments:
1. Loss of yang, cold limbs and weak pulse. It is used to treat the critical symptoms of cold sweat, cold limbs, weak pulse, and loss of yang after dahan, vomiting, and descending.
2. Kidney yang deficiency, impotence and uterine cold. It treats failure of the fire of the life gate, deficiency and coldness of the lower element, impotence and coldness of the uterus, and soreness and weakness of the waist and knees.
3. Cold pain in the chest and abdomen, yin cold and oedema, external sensation of yang deficiency, rheumatism and paralysis.
Dosage and usage: 3 - 15 grams. Decoct for a long time, 30 - 60 minutes, until the mouth tastes no pungent sensation, in order to reduce the toxicity. Raw, it has a strong effect and is suitable to restore yang. Used cooked, it has a mild effect and is suitable for tonifying fire and rescuing yang.
Note: This product is pungent, hot, dry and poisonous, and should not be taken if there is no evidence of yin deficiency or yang weakness. It is contraindicated in patients with yin deficiency and internal heat and pregnant women.
II. Gardenia: it is the clearing heat and diarrhea medicine in traditional Chinese medicine.
Prescription name: gardenia, gardenia skin, gardenia, fried gardenia, black gardenia, burnt gardenia, gardenia kernel.
Sexual flavor attribution: bitter, cold. Returns to the liver, the lung, the stomach, the triple jiao meridian.
Effects: Reducing fire and removing vexation, clearing heat and diuretic, cooling blood and detoxifying.
Treatments:
1. Fever: Treating exogenous fever, evil trapped in the chest, fever, sleeplessness, chest and epigastric constriction, and lightness of the qi division.
2. Jaundice and hemorrhagic drenching: treating damp-heat jaundice, yellow body and red urine.
3. Blood-heat spitting blood, nosebleed, eye redness, sores and ulcers: treating blood-heat paranoia of spitting blood, nosebleed evidence. Fire sores and ulcers.
Dosage: 3 - 10 grams. Use the skin for external heat, use the kernel for internal heat, use it raw to clear away heat, stir-fry it black to stop bleeding, stir-fry it with ginger to stop vomiting and remove vexation.
Note: It is not suitable for people with spleen deficiency and loose stools.
