Shih Ban-yu, whose real name is Shih Jen-mao, was born in 1961 in Taiwan, China. His representative voice-over works include Gambler and Yakuza Academy.

He began his voice acting career in 1983, and first dubbed for Stephen Chow in the movie "Gambling Man" in 1990. Stephen Chow's exaggerated acting skills and Shi Ban Yu's no-nonsense voice matched exactly, thus becoming the royal voice of Stephen Chow. Since then, he has dubbed more than 300 movies and TV dramas, and has also dubbed for other stars besides Stephen Chow.
