Thyroid nodules can be caused by a variety of causes.
1. Hyperplastic nodular goiter
Iodine intake is too high or too low, eating goitrogenic substances, taking goitrogenic drugs or thyroid hormone synthase Defects etc.
2. Tumor nodules
Thyroid follicular cells such as benign thyroid tumors, thyroid papilloma, follicular cell carcinoma, medullary thyroid carcinoma, anaplastic carcinoma, lymphoma, etc. and non-follicular cell malignancies and metastatic carcinomas.
3. Cysts
Nodular goiter, degenerative adenoma and cystic change of old hemorrhagic spots, cystic change of thyroid cancer, congenital thyrohyoid cyst and Cyst caused by remnant of fourth branchial cleft.
4. Inflammatory nodules
Acute suppurative thyroiditis, subacute suppurative thyroiditis, and chronic lymphocytic thyroiditis can all appear in the form of nodules. Rarely, thyroid nodules are caused by tuberculosis or syphilis.
