February 4 is the beginning of spring, which is the first of the 24 solar terms. "Li" is the beginning, and "spring" represents warmth and growth. Ice and snow melting, grass buds sprouting, throughout the ages, people used to give this day of ceremony; flower buds, plowing and sowing, through the ages, literati and elegant people spared no ink to record and express their feelings. The people in the poems either prepared extremely elaborate "spring plate spring cake"; or whip "mud ox" to advise farmers to plow; or hanging "spring streamers spring victory" in the courtyard to welcome the spring wind.

Eating spring cake is one of the food customs of China's folk spring. In some areas (Northeast, North China and other regions) spring has the custom of eating spring pancakes, spring pancakes is a flour branded pancakes, usually to roll vegetables and food.
