Cool Edit 2000 can input various audio sources, including: microphone, tape recorder, CD player, etc. Connect these devices to the sound card. Then, turn the recording volume to the appropriate position, and you can prepare the recording.

Click New in the menu file to open the New Waveform dialog box, and select the appropriate recording channel, resolution and sampling rate. Stereo, generally with 16 bits, 44 100Hz, is used for CD sound quality setting, and the effect is good.

Click the red record button in the lower left corner of the main window of Cool Edit 2000.

Button to start recording and playing CD audio source. After recording, click the stop button in the lower left corner of the main window of Cool Edit 2000. The waveform diagram of the new recording file will appear in the Cool Edit 2000 window. To play it, just click the play button.

After amplifying the waveform, choose the most stable and longest section of the waveform in the noise area (generally the interval without music signal).

Then select noise from the transformation items in the menu in turn.

The noise reduction command will pop up the noise reduction interface.

Change the snapshot parameter in the configuration file in the interface to 800,

The value of FFT size is changed to 8 192, the value of precision factor is changed to 10, and the value of smoothing amount is changed to about 10, which can achieve better results.

After changing the parameters, click the "Get Profile from Selection" button. After a few seconds, the profile of the noise sample will appear.

Close the window, you can listen to the effect, is there no noise? If you are not satisfied, please adjust the parameters again. Because the sound source is different from the recording equipment, it needs repeated debugging to achieve very satisfactory results.

Second, self-made karaoke accompaniment tape

The following example is a homemade karaoke accompaniment tape. Have you ever met a song you like very much, but you can't find karaoke accompaniment? Now with the help of Cool Edit 2000, you don't have to worry about finding an accompaniment tape! We can make our own accompaniment tapes.

First of all, I suggest you install a software called Hao Jie Super Music Studio. It can not only capture audio tracks, but also convert audio files of various formats to each other. We need documents. Wav format is here. Run the digital CD track grabbing project, and the tracks in the CD-ROM drive will be displayed at the top of the menu. Just select the track you want to switch.

In Cool Edit 2000, import the improved file, select Channel Mixer from the Amplitude item in the menu Transform item, and select VocalCut from the preset parameters of the original factory in the pop-up dialog box.

Then close the dialog box and listen to the effect. At this time, you will feel that the sound is almost gone, but after listening for a while, you will find that something seems to be missing. Yes, the sounds of some musical instruments have also been eliminated. Then we will extract this part from the original song (don't forget to save what we just did before the next step).

Open the source file again, and select the graphic equalizer project in the menu filter project (this is a plug-in of Cool Edit 2000). In order to adjust the frequency band more accurately, please switch the window to a 30-segment balanced window.

Then adjust the gain range. In the figure, plus or minus 45dB, and the 10 gain control in the middle is basically the frequency range of human voice. We will minimize the frequency band covered by human voice and adjust the monitoring to almost no human voice.

Press the switch multitrack mixer view button to open the multitrack editing window of CoolEdit Pro.

Stop the time pointer at the beginning of multi-channel audio alignment.

Click the right mouse button on the Wave from file in the plug-in item of the first track, select the audio file processed in step 1 to insert into the first track, and then click the right mouse button to insert the balanced audio file into the second track.

When plugged in, play it. Is it okay? If not, turn up the volume of these two tracks respectively.

Finally, if you are satisfied, select all the waveforms mixed into the track item in the edit menu and output the two tracks as another file. After mixing, save and use.

However, in this case, it is impossible to completely eliminate human voices. If the human voice is completely eliminated, the price paid is also the price of music distortion. But when you sing, your voice can completely cover the original sound that has not been cleaned, without any problems!

Third, add sound effects.

In fact, the most exciting feature in Cool Edit 2000 is the ability to add sound effects at will. Under the menu Transfrm of Cool Edit 2000, there are 20 sub-menus, through which users can easily produce various professional and charming sound effects. Such as reverberation, can produce the environmental effect of concert hall; Dynamic processing, which can dynamically adjust the output level according to the recording level; Time/Pitch can change the pitch or beat of music without affecting the sound quality. These functions are waiting for you to develop!

Tone adjustment. You can polish your voice here. For example, if your tone is low, you can raise the treble to make it clearer; If the pitch is high, it can be soft and pleasant. According to your requirements, select some or all waveforms and use the menu effect/filters/graphic equalizer to open the graphic equalizer dialog box, as shown in Figure 5. The dialog box has three tabs, namely 10, 20, and 30-segment graphic equalizer, which is professional enough. Select one of them and make appropriate adjustments. Click the audition button to audition the effect, and you can adjust it while listening. When you are satisfied, click OK. Note that in order to improve the speed of running and previewing, only a few waveforms can be selected for operation. However, the following steps must be taken to act on all waveforms: 1, and press the Cancel button in the toolbar to cancel the adjustment just now; 2. Select all waveforms, press F2 (the "Redo" shortcut key), and then press Enter. So, what is the function of step "1"? You can't process that part of the waveform twice, so you must cancel it. In addition to noise reduction, you can barely do it twice, and the rest of the effect must not be done.

Beautify the sound through the above steps, the sound is already very clear, but you must still feel so dry and unpleasant. Here, it will be the essence of CEP. It has more than 45 kinds of effectors waiting for you to choose. Don't be greedy. If all of them are used, the final effect will not be so good. Forget it. Under the menu effect/delay effect, there are several submenus, namely chorus, delay, dynamic delay, reverberation, room reverberation, echo and so on. After selecting some waveforms to open the corresponding dialog box, press the preview button to listen to the adjustment. Because many technical terms are involved, it is recommended to use the ready-made effects provided in the preset window, which is much better than adjusting the slider yourself. In this way, use effectors to add appropriate effects to your voice, such as echo and reverberation. Play it again. Isn't it beautiful? I heard you snickering. If English is not very good, you can borrow tools such as Kingsoft Quick Translation to help.

Volume quantization. No matter where you go, CEP provides a convenient tool if you find that the sound waveform is too small or too big. Small ones are easier to handle than large ones. If it is too large, the upper and lower sides of the waveform will be particularly neat, indicating that it exceeds 0db, resulting in "peak elimination" distortion. Although there are tools to fine-tune this peak elimination phenomenon, it should be avoided as much as possible. We use the volume control effector, which is the most widely used effector in CEP. Select the waveform first, and then turn on the effect/amplitude/amplification in turn to open the volume control dialog box, as shown in Figure 3. From the two tabs in the upper left corner, you can open two dialogs, constand amplifiction (Constant Volume) and fade (Fade), which are similar in usage. Generally, you can use the ready-made effect of the preset window on the right. We need to adjust the volume of the whole sound wave, select a preset effect on the right, and zoom in or out in decibels (db). You can click the preview button on the lower right to monitor the effect, and then click OK when you are satisfied. Fade-in and fade-out effects are similar to those mentioned above. Select the waveform segment that starts or ends less than 5 seconds, and then select fade-in or fade-out in the preset effect. Generally, the left and right channels should be locked. After listening to the effect, click OK. Pay attention to the effect of fading in and out. Don't use it backwards. It's too ugly.

Waveform editing. Like most windows programs, CEP also supports operations such as deleting, cutting, copying and pasting waveforms, and its functions are more comprehensive and complex. Through these operations, you can deal with the whole sound wave flawlessly. You can do specific operations just like in other programs. CEP provides you with a very useful clipboard function. Open Edit/Set the current clipboard, and you will find that it has added six clipboards for your use. This is much more convenient when editing files, especially repeated music or sound loops. At this time, just extract it from the corresponding clipboard. Don't forget to save your file.

Multi-track window. Click the right mouse button on the waveform, click Insert Multi-track Window, and click the Monorail and Multi-track Switch button in the upper left corner of the window to switch to the Multi-track window, as shown in figure 1. The waveform you edited has been waiting in the top track. The multi-track window of CEP is similar to the "timeline window" of premiere, flash and cakewalk. It has a vertical bright line, which acts on all the tracks that pass by as it moves when playing. You can drag the waveform of a track to both sides with the right button to change its "appearance" time. You can also drag up and down to move to other tracks. Among the buttons on the left side of each track, there are three striking buttons R, S and M, which respectively represent recording status, solo and mute. You can select and cancel the function of this track as needed. There are also volume and pan options on the left side of the three buttons. You can adjust the volume or phase (sound source direction, i.e. pan position) of the audio track by directly inputting numerical values or opening the control push rod with the right mouse button, as shown in figure 1.

According to our intention, let's add music to this poem. Click the toggle button in the upper left corner to return to the monorail editing window. Click the "New" and "Open" buttons in the toolbar, and select an appropriate music in the dialog box, which supports WAV, MP3 and even CD tracks and other formats. Just look at the file type drop-down list, click Play to listen to this music, and then confirm. The most gratifying thing is that CEP can extract dubbing from video files. Do not believe you look at files/videos to extract audio, support AVI, MPEG and so on. Right-click the open music waveform and click Insert Multi-track to insert it into the Multi-track window. If necessary, of course, many effects can be dealt with before this. Waveforms inserted into multiple tracks will be automatically placed on the empty top track.

Multichannel mixing. At this point, there should be two tracks in the multi-track window. The first one is the poem you read, and the second one is the music. Hold down the right mouse button, drag the trajectory waveform left and right, and adjust its "appearance" time appropriately. I think the next thing to do is to adjust the volume ratio of the two tracks. Between them, we can neither usurp the role of master nor monopolize it. The overall adjustment of a certain track may be too one-sided. In this way, we let the music start as usual. Before your voice appeared, the music gradually weakened to a constant volume, and when the poem was finished, the music volume returned to normal. Select View/Enable Envelope Editing, and check before Show Volume Envelope, and if necessary, check Show Pan Envelope. A bright green volume control envelope and a bright blue phase control envelope will appear at the top of each track (of course, these colors can be customized), as shown in Figure 7. With the mouse, you can control the volume and phase of some or all sound waves in each track (the position of sound between the left and right channels). We click on any empty area of the second track and select it. Click the mouse to add control points on the volume control line of the corresponding part of the reading sound, drag the control points up and down to reduce the volume, and display the volume percentage at the same time. By analogy, where the volume needs to be restored, similar operations are performed to restore the volume. Similarly, you can adjust the phase to make the modified part sound like sounds from different directions. Control points are generally composed of two parts, one is to start execution, and the other is to end execution. As shown in fig. 7. Press the home key on the keyboard to return the playhead to the starting position on the left, and then press the play key (the shortcut key is space) to listen to the composite effect of the two tracks. Not bad, huh? If you choose "Save As" to save, it will be saved as a dedicated ses format.

Synthetic output. Everything is properly adjusted and finally auditioned. Because it is still in multi-track wav format, it is not convenient to save and transmit. Just change it to the audio format you want. In the file/Save the synthesis as ..., which means save as ... That is to say, regardless of the audio format you save, CEP will turn several audio tracks into a file with only left and right channels, but it contains all the sound waveforms you edited. You can choose various storage formats, such as MP3. However, when you want to mix them into WAV, in order to ensure universality, it is recommended to choose the WAV format of windows PCM.

Operation tips: space bar, play and pause. Shift+home selects the current position to the beginning; Shift+end selects the current to the end part. Home returns to the starting position; End Jump to End-Multi-track and Single-track windows are valid. Click the right mouse button on the vertical and horizontal ruler of monorail, the horizontal ruler of multi-rail and the time display bar of two windows to customize the display unit or style.

Cool Edit Pro is a multi-channel digital audio editing software which integrates recording, mixing and editing. Here we take the version of 1.2 as an example to introduce how to use the functions that are often used when making and editing audio.

First, introduce the menu and shortcut toolbar.

File: This menu contains common commands such as create, open, close, save and save as.

There is a little difference between Open and Open As. The former is a general open command, and the latter means "open as". I don't have to tell you what this means. In fact, there is only one choice, that is, open the established file, and then a format conversion window similar to 2 will appear. Select the format you want, and then click OK. After waiting for a long time (2-4 minutes), your original audio file will be converted to the format you just selected. In fact, this process can be realized by opening the file with Open and then converting the format with Convert Sample Type in Edit. I really don't know what david Johnston thinks. It's not bad, it's not practical.

Open Append connects the open audio file to the end of the open file, so as to splice two audio files into a large audio waveform file.

Revert to the last saved file before reloading, and ignore all current operations. In fact, this step can be achieved by closing the file (without saving) and then opening it.

Close means to close the current waveform file.

Close all waveforms and sessions Close all waveform files (including files in use and unused files in the current task) and tasks (referring to the entire working environment of multi-track operation, temporarily called "tasks"). As long as you use this command, all the working "garbage" and "garbage bins" will be cleared.

Close only non-session waveforms Close waveform files unrelated to the current task.

Save it and forget it (fools know how to use it).

"Save Copy As" is to back up and save the file currently being processed. But don't forget to choose another file name, otherwise ... your original file will be unrecognizable!

Save Selection, as the name implies, saves the selected part of the current waveform file.

Saving all means saving all. But be careful, when you choose this project, you have no choice. It will automatically save all the editing work and tasks you have completed or not (unless the file or task you are editing is new, it will let you determine the file name), and it is generally best not to use it.

Free hard disk space to clean up hard disk space. When editing audio, some temporary and undo files will inevitably be generated. You can empty them here.

Exit exit CE.

Edit: This menu contains some common commands, such as copy, paste, delete and format conversion.

Enable undo to open the undo function.

Repeat the last command. Repeat the last operation command. No matter what file you open (including the current file), you can repeat the last operation command for that file.

Set the current clipboard to select the currently used clipboard. There are five ces, plus 1(98) of Windows95. * * There are six clipboards to choose from, but only 1 can be selected at a time.

I believe everyone knows the functions of copying, cutting and pasting, and so do copying, cutting and pasting. You can select (highlight) a part of the current file to copy, cut and paste.

Paste to New File Pastes the file on the clipboard as a new file.

Mixed Paste mixes the waveform content in the clipboard into the current waveform file. When using this command, a dialog box will appear, in which you can choose the mixing method. . Such as insertion, overlap, substitution, modulation, etc. You can also choose whether the waveform data to be mixed comes from the clipboard or an established waveform file.

Copy to New File Copies the current file or the selected part of the current file to a new waveform file, and adds "(2)" after the original file name to indicate it.

Insert Multi-Track Inserts the current waveform file or the selected part of the current file into the multi-track window as a new track.

Insert a playlist in a multi-track

Select the entire waveform Select the entire waveform. This operation can also be done by double-clicking the left mouse button.

Delete Selection Deletes the selected part of the current file.

Delete Mute Delete the low-level signal (near the mute part). However, some parameters should be selected between work, such as how many decibels below and how many hours above, so that CE can determine the amount of removing small signals. Note: deleting the small signal will shorten the current file time, because all the small signal parts that meet the requirements are deleted instead of reducing the volume.

Trim filters out the unselected parts in the current waveform file. In the case of not saving, you can use the restore to saved command to restore the original file, or you can use the undo function to restore it (of course, turn on the undo function).

Zero crossing adjusts the starting point and ending point of the selected area (part) to the nearest zero position. The zero point is the intersection of the effective sine wave and the center line. The use of this function is profound and not much, but I will talk about it a little. There are also some options in this menu, which will be briefly mentioned for you:

Adjust inward selection adjusts the starting point and ending point of the selected area of the waveform to the position closest to the zero point in the area.

Adjust outward selection adjusts the start and end of the selected area of the waveform to the position closest to zero outside the area.

Left adjustment adjusts the starting point (left part) of the selected area of the waveform to the left to the position closest to the zero point.

Adjust from left to right adjusts the beginning (left part) of the selected area of the waveform to the right to the position closest to the zero point.

Adjust Right to the Left Adjust the end (right part) of the selected area of the waveform to the left to the position closest to the zero point.

Adjust Right Adjust the end (right part) of the selected area of the waveform to the right to the nearest zero point.

It doesn't seem clear, but it's actually very simple: if the starting point and ending point are exactly at zero, it means that the starting point and ending point of the selected area are just in a silent state. When copying and pasting, the overall damage to the original waveform file is minimized, at least better than copying and pasting casually.

This function is especially suitable for those friends who often splice and make waveforms.

Find the beat With this tool, you can quickly find the starting point and ending point of a complete beat (somewhat similar to rhythm) in music. That is, the part between two stressed (high level) signals, so that you can easily make loops (such as drum loops).

Automatic marking. There are several options under it:

Adjusting the selection to a phrase is to determine a paragraph in the selected (highlighted) area (the "paragraph" here is my temporary name for it, which is easier to understand, and literal translation means "common sentence"). A paragraph is a region where a signal from a small level to a large level begins and a signal from a large level to a small level ends.

Find phrases and tags Find all paragraphs in the selected area, mark each paragraph as a queue, and add it to the prompt list.

Find Beats and Tags Find all beats in the selected area, mark each beat as a queue, and add it to the prompt list.

Auto-prompt Settings When the mouse is pressed, a similar dialog box will appear. When executing the above command options, you need to determine the difference between size and level according to the value of this parameter, which can be obtained automatically by "Find Level" or modified manually.

Snapping will quickly move the pointer to the specified position. The specific location is determined according to its three sub-options, and the third option "alignment prompt" is the best one. If multiple paragraphs or beats have been established in Auto-Cue, you can quickly jump to the next position according to the mark when you go forward and backward in the shortcut bar of the playback control.

Adjust the sampling rate. Sample rate adjustment. This sampling rate adjustment is only to adjust the sampling rate used by the sound card to play the current audio file (of course, the sound card must be able to support the selected sampling rate, otherwise it cannot be played), not to modify the sampling rate of the current file. When the sampling rate changes, the time scale on the time axis will change. When the sampling rate is low, the time will be extended and vice versa.

Convert the sampling type and convert the sampling format. After conversion with this tool, the sampling rate of the current file will change (the playing time will not change), the file size will also change, and the processing time will be longer (about 2-4 minutes). You can choose the sampling rate, number of channels and resolution accuracy (quantization bits). When you choose 8-bit quantization, you can also choose jitter parameters.

Edie Tempo calculates the beat. By inputting some necessary parameters (such as the time of each beat), the total beat per minute of the current song can be calculated.

Undo the last operation is equivalent to undo XXX for the first time in the edit menu (where "XXX" depends on the specific last operation).

Enabling/disabling Undo is equivalent to enabling Undo in the Edit menu.

Deleting the selection is equivalent to deleting the selection in editing.

Trimming all ports except the selected port is equivalent to trimming in editing.

Copying the selection to the clipboard is equivalent to copying in editing.

Cutting the selection to the clipboard is equivalent to cutting in editing.

Pasting the clipboard to a waveform is equivalent to pasting in editing.

Mixed paste is equivalent to mixed paste in editing.

Adjust the selection to or find the zero-crossing point. If an area is selected in the current waveform file during this operation, this operation is equivalent to adjusting the selection of the zero-crossing point in the edit menu. If no area is selected, this operation is equivalent to finding the nearest zero position on the right at the current pointer, which is similar to adjusting the zero crossing point from left to right in the editing menu (in fact, it is exactly the same when no area is selected).

Converting sample types is equivalent to converting sample types in editing.

Add the current selection to the prompt list marks the currently selected block (selected area) as a queue and adds it to the prompt list.

View: This menu contains some commonly used switch items in CE.

Multi-track view Press this menu item to enter the multi-track editing state.

Waveform View Waveform Display Menu Item

Only spectrum view spectrum display menu item and waveform display can be selected.

Display Grid Displays the bottom grid of the waveform editing window.

Show Boundaries Displays the upper and lower boundaries of each channel in the waveform editing window.

Show Prompt Bar Displays the queue indicator bar in the waveform editing window.

Show Status Bar Displays the status bar at the bottom of the CE window.

The display level indicator displays the volume indicator.

View Range The waveform editing window displays the range of the waveform file. After pressing this item, a dialog box will appear, and the start time and end time will be added, so the waveform of the selected time period will be completely displayed in the waveform editing window.

There are 12 options for displaying time format * * which are related to the time format displayed in the current waveform file. You can choose according to your own needs. Generally, it defaults to decimal "mm.ss.ddd" (minutes, seconds, milliseconds). There are two unrelated options at the bottom: editing speed (the same as in editing) and defining custom frames (the default number of custom frames).

Vertical Scale FormatChange the vertical scale format on the right side of the waveform editing window. You can choose between sample value, normalized value and percentage.

The status bar adjusts the indicator of the status bar at the bottom of CE. There are seven options: the level and time value of mouse pointer position, sampling format, current file size, current file duration, free space of hard disk, free time of hard disk and display of playing time.

Information about the current file. You can add your copyright information to the edited and produced files.

Sampling information of the current file.

The prompt list queue list shows that three queues have been selected for the current file. This queue list dialog box is a floating menu. You can open it and do other work at the same time. If the queue changes at this time, it will be displayed in this dialog box immediately. Careful friends may find a batch button at the bottom right of the dialog box. When you select any queue in the list, it will be lit, and a dialog box will appear when you press it. The function of Set Amount Of Silence is to insert a small-level (zero-level) signal at both ends of the start and end range of the selected queue, and the duration of this signal is the time value selected below. This will change the length of the current file (the added time is the sum of the two selected time values). Of course, you can enter batch processing again and change all time values to "0", and then the length of the current file will be restored to its original size. It doesn't matter even if it has been saved before it is changed back to its original length. Open the saved file and you will see that the original queue (the queue you have processed) is still there. Then enter Batch, change the time value to "0" and confirm that it will be restored to its original length. There is also a save to file option in the lower part of the batch dialog box. I don't want to say that everyone knows that the waveform file in the selected queue area is saved as a file. Add the prefix of the required file in the text box after the file name prefix, and it will automatically number the files. I won't talk about the next two. Neither, so the computer has been playing for nothing in recent years.
