Plum origin and varieties
Plums are produced in Liaoning, Jilin, Shaanxi, Gansu, Sichuan, Yunnan, Guizhou, Hunan, Hubei, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Fujian, Guangdong, Guangxi and Taiwan.
The varieties of plums include Green Crisp Plum, Crisp Red Plum, Bee Sugar Plum, May Crisp, Sanhua Plum, Hibiscus Plum, Zhuji Red Heart Plum, Shengzhou Peach Shape Plum, Crabapple Plum, and Tongxiang_Plum.
Plum ripening month
Plum blossoms in April in spring, continues to grow for 3-4 months, and the fruit ripens in July-August, which is a summer fruit. They are usually available around May-June, but are best eaten in August-September.
The earliest plums ripen in May-June, early varieties begin to hit the market in early June, and the best varieties are picked and marketed in August-September.
Also, plums are not available all year round and are a summer fruit, somewhat similar in appearance to apples but not as large and not available all year round like apples.
