The United States ten major divisions:
1, the United States 1st Cavalry Division: nicknamed the "first team"
Affiliated with the Army's 3rd Corps. The division was formally established in September 1929, is the U.S. Army rapid reaction force in one of the two heavy division. It has participated in World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War and the Gulf War.
2, the U.S. 1st Armored Division: nicknamed "The Brave"
Attached to the Army's 5th Army. The division was established in July 1940, is the United States Army armored forces established the earliest troops, but also at present the United States Army's only armored division. It has participated in World War II, the Gulf War, and peacekeeping operations in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
3, the U.S. 1st Mechanical Infantry Division: nicknamed "Big Red"
Under the Army 7th Army Group. The division was born on May 24, 1917, and was known as the 1st U.S. Expeditionary Division.
4, U.S. Army 2nd Mechanized Infantry Division: nicknamed "Indian Head"
is the U.S. Pacific Headquarters under the jurisdiction of the two infantry divisions, based in South Korea, but also the only U.S. infantry divisions in the Western Pacific region.
5, the U.S. 3rd Mechanized Infantry Division: nicknamed the "Marlin Stone"
Established on November 21, 1917, stationed in the U.S. mainland at Fort Stewart, Georgia. The division was the last of the US Army's rapid reaction forces to be used in contingency operations, with its rapid mobility, great firepower and assault power, and protection against enemy heavy divisions that other light divisions did not possess.
6, the U.S. 4th Mechanized Infantry Division: nicknamed the "Ivy"
Attached to the 3rd Army, stationed in the U.S. mainland Fort Hood. 10, the U.S. 101st Air Assault Division: nicknamed the "Screaming Eagles"
Affiliated with the 18th Airborne Corps, the division is stationed at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, on U.S. soil. The division has rapid air mobility, powerful firepower and assault force, able to long-distance beyond the terrain obstacles, the enemy to implement a sudden strike, is the U.S. Army's only major reliance on helicopters to carry out aerial maneuvering operations of the rapid reaction force.
