2, evergreen small tree, about 10 m high; branchlets stout, yellow-brown, densely rust-colored or gray-brown tomentose. Leaves leathery, lanceolate, oblanceolate, obovate or elliptic-rectangular, 12-30 cm long, 3-9 cm wide, apex acute or acuminate, base cuneate or attenuate into a petiole, margins sparsely serrate in the upper part, wrinkled above, densely gray-brown tomentose below and on the petiole, lateral veins 11-21 pairs; petiole 6-10 mm long. Panicles terminal, densely rust-colored tomentose outside of the common pedicel, pedicel, and calyx tube; flowers white, 1.2-2 cm in diameter; styles 5, free. Pear fruit globose or oblong, 2-5 cm in diam.
