Caffeine stains will have the following characteristics when they appear:
1. The age of occurrence can appear at birth or later in life and increase in number throughout childhood
2. The site of occurrence can occur in any part of the body and will not subside throughout life
3. The characteristics of the skin lesions are light brown spots, milky coffee-colored pigments, brown to brown, like a mixture of coffee and milk.
