If we say that the most literary hutong is Wudaoying Hutong.
Wudaoying Hutong is a place I personally like very much, because it has preserved its unique historical features and strong cultural atmosphere in the busy city of Beijing. Every time I walk into this hutong, I can feel a quiet and leisurely atmosphere.
The old houses, winding alleys and traditional red brick and gray tile walls in the hutongs make me feel like I am in the past. Walking in Wudaoying Hutong, I can see many well-preserved traditional buildings in Beijing, all of which have distinctive courtyards and exquisite doors and windows. These houses reveal a strong historical atmosphere, which makes me imagine the past time.
The snack stalls that can be seen everywhere in the hutongs are even more mouth-watering. I like to try all kinds of traditional old Beijing snacks, such as fried creak, bean juice, pot helmet and so on. These snacks exude attractive fragrance and let me fully experience Beijing's food culture. On a hot summer day, it is definitely a pleasure to have a bowl of cool bean curd or a cool mung bean soup.
In addition, there are many art studios and galleries in Wudaoying Hutong, where I like to explore all kinds of exquisite handicrafts. Everything from wood carving to ceramics shows the wisdom and skills of craftsmen. I don't have the patience to create it myself, but I like to appreciate other people's works and bring back some exquisite handicrafts as souvenirs.
Generally speaking, Wudaoying Hutong is a safe haven for me to escape from the noisy city. Here, I can slow down, feel the charm of traditional culture, taste delicious snacks and appreciate works of art. Whenever I come to Wudaoying Hutong, I can always find peace and satisfaction. It is one of my favorite places in Beijing and a unique scenic spot I recommend to my friends.
If you have a one-day trip to Hutong, Ah Fu will recommend a route for you!
This route crosses Wudaoying Hutong, Jianchang Hutong, imperial academy, Beiluoguxiang, Gulou East Street, Yandai Xiejie and Shichahai, and it takes about 4-5 hours to rest while visiting.
Wudaoying Hutong is one of the hutongs with the strongest literary atmosphere in Beijing in my heart. There are various small shops along the street, such as handmade shops, ceramic shops, Vintage shops, coffee shops and jewelry shops by independent designers, which are dazzling and exude charming artistic atmosphere.
Starting from Wudaoying Hutong, I embarked on the journey to Jianchang Hutong, looking for the famous new Chinese dessert shop "Yuangu". On the way, I couldn't help being fascinated by this quaint and beautiful scene. Imperial academy and Confucius Temple Museum, summer viewing and land to lord ice cream shop are all my exploration goals. The sweetness of red bean double skin milk lingers in my mouth, and the fragrance of Sanyuan Meiyuan makes me intoxicated.
Beiluoguxiang and Nanluoguxiang are separated by a street, but they have a completely different atmosphere. Beiluoguxiang gives people a feeling of purity, tranquility and leisure. There are many art shops, cafes, Japanese izakaya and certain bookstores. In summer, the sight of the rosa multiflora Sea opening is even more fascinating to me.
There are time-honored shops, various specialty snacks, musical instruments, antique shops, cafes, pottery studios and record shops on both sides of Gulou East Street. Here, the flavor of old Beijing is preserved, and the elements of fashion and literature and art are integrated. While the tobacco pouch diagonal street is more commercialized, I recommend going to the Qing Post Office to experience that nostalgic feeling.
Finally, I came to Shichahai, where the sunset glow of Yinding Bridge, the red walls and green tiles of Drum Tower, the remains of Gongwangfu, the Xifu Begonia of Soong Ching Ling's former residence and the tranquility of Guanghua Temple were gathered. Here, I not only taste the cultural and historical details, but also enjoy the beautiful scenery and relaxing time. Shichahai is the gathering place of the charm of old Beijing, which deeply intoxicated me, as if I had crossed back to that ancient and unique era.
