Plaice is a general term for fish belonging to the order Plaiceiformes of the class Bony Fishes. The body is very flat on the sides, oblong, oval or long tongue-shaped, with a maximum body length of up to 5M. The body of adult fish is asymmetrical from left to right. Both eyes are located on the left or right side of the head. Mouth slightly protruding. Fins generally have no spines. The dorsal and anal fins have long bases and may or may not be connected to the caudal fin. It is widely distributed in warm and hot waters of all oceans and mainly feeds on benthic invertebrates and fish.
