How and when to plant mung beans: planting time, seed selection and germination, land selection and soil preparation, sowing into the soil, and field management.
1. Planting time
Mung beans are usually sown in spring and summer. In spring, choose between April and May, and in summer, choose between June and July. The specific time depends on the region. If you are in the north, you usually sow in spring, while in the south, you can sow in spring and summer. Note that you should avoid rainy days and choose a sunny day.
2. Selection and germination
Mung bean seeds should be chosen to be full and mature. Place the mung bean seeds in clean water to germinate, allowing the mung bean seeds to fully absorb the water. Wait until the seeds on the surface are broken before taking them out for sowing. In this way, the germination rate will be higher and the germination speed will be faster.
3. Land selection and preparation
Mung beans like light and are afraid of water accumulation in the soil. Therefore, it seems that it is best to choose a plot with good lighting, convenient drainage and irrigation. Such a plot is conducive to growth and easy to manage. Prepare the land in advance, clean up the debris, and apply base fertilizer. Just choose decomposed farmyard manure to improve the fertility of the soil. Plow the soil once after spreading fertilizer to ensure that the soil is soft and fertile.
4. Sowing in the soil
Mung beans are usually planted by hole sowing. Put 3 seeds in each hole and cover them with soil in time. Be careful not to plant too densely. The distance between holes should be kept at about 30 centimeters. About 1-2 kilograms of seeds should be planted per acre. If the soil is dry, water it properly after planting to ensure that the soil is slightly moist, so that seedlings can grow as soon as possible.
5. Field Management
When the mung bean seedlings grow to two leaves with one center, they should be removed in time. Just remove the lumpy seedlings. When there are weeds in the plot, clean them up promptly to avoid competition. Seedlings consume a lot of water during the growth period, so water them in time, control the amount of water, and avoid accumulation of water.
