What is the usage and efficacy of Lycopodium?
Otherwise known as Lycopodium, Hairy Lions, Pueraria lobata, Dioscorea nipponica, Ajuga, and Shujingcao.

Morphological characteristics of perennial herbs. Stolons are creeping, and branches are sparse with leaves. Erect stem height15 ~ 30 cm, branched; Vegetative branches are multi-branched, with dense leaves, needle-shaped leaves and long awn tail at the tip; Spore branches grow from the vegetative branches in the second and third years, far higher than the vegetative branches, and the leaves are sparse; Sporangial spikes, stipitate, usually 2 ~ 6 born on the upper part of spore branches; Spore leaves are ovate-triangular, with acute apex and sharp tail, irregular serrations at the edge, kidney-shaped sporangium, yellowish brown, and isomorphic spores. Spores mature in July and August. The whole herb with roots is used as medicine, harvested in summer, washed and dried.

Growing environment: Northeast China, North China, South China, Southwest China, Inner Mongolia, Henan and other places. Mostly in the shade under sparse forests.

Sexual taste is bitter, pungent and warm. Dispelling wind and cold, removing dampness and swelling, relaxing muscles and promoting blood circulation.
