The yellow hot ding is an omnivorous fish with a carnivorous diet. Foraging activities are generally carried out at night, food, including small fish, shrimp, a variety of terrestrial and aquatic insects (especially mosquito larvae), small mollusks and other aquatic invertebrates, and sometimes also prey on small fish.

The Pelteobagrus fulvidraco (scientific name: Pelteobagrus fulvidraco) is a common freshwater fish in the family Luridae, genus Pelteobagrus. Alias are: yellow chili ding, yellow gouzi, yellow sagu, yellow horn ding, prickly yellow stock, Angus fish. The yellow catfish is distributed in Laos, Vietnam, China, North Korea, and southeastern Siberia, Russia. In China, it is distributed in the Pearl River, Min River, Xiang River, Yangtze River, Yellow River, Hai River, Songhua River and Heilongjiang River.

The food habits of Pelteobagrus fulvidraco vary with the environment and seasonal changes, and it often swallows the eggs of other fishes in spring and summer, and in the cold season, there are more small fishes in the food and the benthic fauna gradually decreases. Different specifications of Pelteobagrus fulvidraco diet is also different, body length 2 ~ 4cm, mainly feeding on copepods and branching horns; body length of 5 ~ 8cm of individuals, mainly feeding on zooplankton and aquatic insects; more than 8cm above the individual, feeding on mollusks and small fish and so on.
