Elevates blood pressure and aggravates edema.
The relationship between salt (sodium chloride) and hypertension, renal edema, hepatic edema, and heart failure is becoming increasingly clear, and salt or sodium intake should be limited with these diseases.
Use a low-salt (no more than 2,000 milligrams of sodium per day), salt-free (no more than 1,000 milligrams of sodium per day), or low-sodium (no more than 500 milligrams of sodium per day) diet. Because soda crackers are high in sodium, they should not be eaten by patients with hypertension, heart failure and edema.
Cautions:
First aid:
Skin contact: remove contaminated clothing and rinse with running water.
Eye contact: lift eyelids and flush with running water or saline. Seek medical attention.
Inhalation: Remove from scene to fresh air. If breathing is difficult, administer oxygen. Seek medical attention.
Ingested: Drink plenty of warm water and induce vomiting. Seek medical attention.
Emergency response:
Isolate the leaking contaminated area and restrict access. Emergency responders are advised to wear dust masks (full face masks) and hazmat suits. Collect with a clean shovel in a dry, clean, covered container and transfer to a safe place. If a large number of leaks, collect and recycle or transport to a waste disposal site for disposal.
