Pharmacological Action The ethanol extract from hippocampus by Kjeldahl method can prolong estrus of normal female mice, but it can appear in ovariectomized mice and increase the weight of uterus and ovary (normal mice). Taking the weight of prostate, seminal vesicle and levator ani of mice as indicators, hippocampus extract (unknown species) showed androgenic effect, which was weaker than that of Fructus Cnidii and Herba Epimedii, but stronger than that of Gecko.
