Watermelon germination method: Using the watermelon rapid germination method, the seedlings can emerge about 10 days earlier than dry seed direct seeding. The method is as follows:

1. Soak the seeds in warm water. Prepare about 100 grams of seeds per acre. Before soaking the seeds, prepare the melon land, raise the melon mounds, and apply base fertilizer (or prepare a nutrient bowl). On a sunny morning after rain, soak the seeds in warm water at 55°C for 3 hours, remove and drain until the water stops dripping.

2. Keep warm for germination. First, put a basin of clean and moist river sand in a pot and steam it thoroughly, pour it out, mix well and let it dry to form 50℃ preheated sand. Spread the preheated sand in a basin to a thickness of 6 cm, put a piece of gauze on top, mix the seeds with 3 to 4 times the amount of preheated sand, and spread it on the gauze so that the thickness does not exceed 6 cm. Then put the clean straw into hot water of about 50 degrees and soak it, spin it dry and spread it on the seeds. Then fold a piece of plastic film into 6 layers to wrap the mouth of the pot and tie it tightly. Make a small hole in the middle of the film and insert a thermometer. Finally, put the pot into a hot water pot at 55°C to accelerate germination. The temperature should be kept at 39°C during germination. If it is too high, the pot can be removed to cool down. During the germination process, it is necessary to turn the seeds 1 to 2 times to ensure that the seeds are evenly heated and germinate neatly. After 17 hours of germination, use chopsticks to quickly select the germinated seeds, spread them out in a basin, cover them with a wet towel, and store them in a cool, wind-free place. Select every 3 to 4 hours until germination is complete.

3. Sow seeds. Dig a hole in the melon mound (still cover the seeds with a wet towel in the pot), and place 1 to 2 seeds horizontally in each hole so that the seeds can unshell in the soil when they emerge. Then cover with 2 cm thick fine soil or sprinkle a layer of vegetation and then cover with fine soil. Finally, pour thin quick-acting fertilizer or water to soak it, sprinkle a little fine soil on the hole surface to moisturize, and the seedlings will emerge in about 3 days.
