Principles for selecting ornamental fish The following principles should be followed when selecting ornamental fish:
(1) Choose ornamental fish that are easy to tame, especially when choosing marine fish. Because most species of marine fish cannot be artificially propagated, most of the wild fish we see in aquarium shops are caught from shallow waters near coral reefs, which involves the problem of bait training, so it is best to choose fish that can accept artificial bait as soon as possible. Marine fish are divided into carnivorous, herbivorous and omnivorous according to their different feeding habits. Omnivorous fish are the easiest to feed. They feed on shrimp, algae and small fish, and most of them belong to this category. In addition, there are also butterfly fish, such as Guan Dao, Moon Eyebrow Butterfly and Herringbone Butterfly, which are all common species to feed at present. Herbivorous marine fish mainly feed on algae in water, such as Ichthyodidae, so it is difficult to tame bait. The most difficult thing to raise is the marine fish with special feeding habits. They only eat foods that are extremely difficult to find, such as coral meat and polyps, and are not suitable for beginners to raise.
(2) Selecting young fish and ornamental fish with strong appetite. If the ornamental fish is raised from the young fish stage, it is not only easy to tame the bait, but also has strong plasticity and is easy to adapt to the new environment, and its vitality is more vigorous and easier to survive than other fish stages. In order to observe the feeding situation of fish, it is best to try to feed them on the spot in the aquarium shop when buying fish. Fish with good appetite and fast food grabbing must be healthy, and the degree of baiting can be known from it, so as to identify the length of feeding time after catching the fish and avoid buying the fish just caught.
(3) As long as the compatibility between different species is considered when selecting fish, perhaps everyone wants to keep all kinds of colorful ornamental fish in their aquariums, but it is also necessary to consider whether they can become really harmonious neighbors. Different fish species have different living habits, so carnivorous ornamental fish can't be mixed with small fish, otherwise small fish will become their delicious meal; For ornamental fish with strong territorial love for fighting, try to avoid mixing with other fish. If they are kept in the same aquarium, we should also pay attention to setting up more decorations to provide places for fish to hide. When only two or three species of ornamental fish are kept, they will fight endlessly, but when they are put in a certain amount, they can live in peace. Fish with excessive disparity in feeding speed should not be kept in the same aquarium, so as to avoid fish that can't grab food for a long time from getting sick because of lack of nutrition; Fish with a single bait had better not be mixed with other fish.
The number of fish raised in the aquarium depends on the size of the aquarium, the function of the supporting hardware and equipment and the water quality. In an aquarium with water temperature below 25℃ and water capacity of 100L,10 3 cm fish can be stocked; When the water temperature is at a high temperature of 30℃ for a long time, the number of breeding will be halved. At the beginning of raising fish, because the established filtration circulation system is not stable, the feeding density should not be too high.
