First, brown rice
Steamed brown rice is the most common way to eat brown rice. Steamed brown rice requires certain skills. Because the hardness of brown rice is relatively high, it may not be easy to steam it directly. It is suggested that you clean the brown rice one night in advance and soak it in clear water, so that the steamed brown rice tastes softer and more waxy. If people think that the taste of pure brown rice is unacceptable, brown rice and rice can be mixed and steamed at the ratio of 1: 1 or 1: 2.
Second, steamed brown rice with sweet potato
Brown rice is also very suitable for porridge. Brown rice itself is not particularly sweet, so in order to increase its sweetness, it is recommended that you make steamed brown rice with sweet potato. In particular, the sweet potato with relatively high sweetness is selected, and the porridge boiled with brown rice tastes rich and sweet.
How long can brown rice be preserved?
Bulk brown rice can be stored for about 3 months in spring and summer and for about 6 months in winter. Vacuum-packed brown rice can be stored for one year to one and a half years. Generally speaking, it is best to eat brown rice within one year. If the storage time is too long, the nutrients will gradually lose after cooking, and the taste will also be affected.
If the storage method is incorrect, brown rice will be moldy; When the time is too long, the enzyme activity in brown rice decreases, the structure in the rice is relaxed, and the rice grains are easily broken and worms are born. Once brown rice is moldy, it can't be eaten any more, because mold contains carcinogenic aflatoxin. If there are only a few insects that are not moldy, you can screen them out with a dustpan, or insert a chopstick in the rice to let them climb out, and then wash and eat.
