Content of harmful substances, CAS No

2-ethylhexyl acrylate100103-11-7

The third part: risk overview.

Hazard category:

Invasion route: inhalation, ingestion and percutaneous absorption.

Health hazard: this product has irritating effect on skin and eyes. It belongs to low toxicity, but it will be poisoned if inhaled, ingested or absorbed through the skin. When it comes to heat, it explains the irritating smoke.

Environmental hazards:

Danger of explosion: this product is flammable and irritating.

Part IV: First aid measures

Skin contact: rinse thoroughly with soapy water and clean water. See a doctor.

Eye contact: Open eyelids and rinse with flowing water 15 minutes. See a doctor.

Inhalation: leave the site quickly and go to fresh air. Keep the respiratory tract unobstructed. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. If breathing stops, give artificial respiration immediately. See a doctor.

Ingestion: If taken by mistake, drink proper amount of warm water to induce vomiting. See a doctor.

Part V: Fire Prevention Measures

Hazard characteristics: flammable in case of open flame and high heat. Contact with strong oxidant can lead to chemical reaction. Its vapor is heavier than air, which can spread to a considerable distance at a lower place, and will catch fire when it meets a fire source. It is easy to self-polymerize, and the polymerization reaction is rapidly intensified with the increase of temperature. In case of high heat, the internal pressure of the container increases, which is in danger of cracking and explosion.

Harmful combustion products: carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide.

Fire extinguishing methods and extinguishing agents: atomized water, anti-soluble foam, carbon dioxide, dry powder.

Personal protection of firefighters: Firefighters must wear gas masks and full-body fire suits to put out fires in the upwind direction.

Prohibited fire extinguishing agent:

Part VI: Emergency Treatment of Leakage

Emergency treatment: Evacuate the personnel in the leaked contaminated area to a safe area, and prohibit irrelevant personnel from entering the contaminated area. It is recommended that emergency treatment personnel wear self-contained breathing apparatus and chemical protective clothing. Mixed with sand, dry lime or soda ash, collected in a closed container and transported to the waste disposal site. It can also be scrubbed with emulsion made of incombustible dispersant. If a large amount of leakage occurs, it will be contained by the dike, and then it will be collected, transferred, recycled or discarded after harmless treatment.

Part VII: Operation, Disposal and Storage

Precautions for operation: closed operation, local exhaust. Prevent steam from leaking into the air in the workplace. Operators must be specially trained and strictly abide by the operating procedures. Operators are advised to wear self-priming filter gas mask (half mask), chemical safety glasses, anti-static work clothes and rubber gloves. Stay away from kindling and heat sources, and smoking is strictly prohibited in the workplace. Use explosion-proof ventilation system and equipment. Welding, cutting and other operations cannot be carried out before removing liquid and vapor. Avoid producing smoke. Avoid contact with oxidants, acids and alkalis. The container and transmission equipment should be grounded to prevent static electricity. When filling, the flow rate should be controlled, and a grounding device should be provided to prevent static electricity accumulation. Equipped with corresponding varieties and quantities of fire fighting equipment and leakage emergency treatment equipment. Empty containers may leave harmful substances.

Precautions for storage: Store in a cool and ventilated warehouse. Stay away from fire and heat sources. Keep away from light. The reservoir temperature should not exceed 30℃. Keep the container sealed, and it is forbidden to contact with air. It should be stored separately from oxidants, acids and alkalis, and should not be mixed. Equipped with corresponding varieties and quantities of fire fighting equipment. The storage area should be equipped with emergency treatment equipment for leakage and suitable accommodation materials.

Part VIII: Contact Control/Personal Protection

Maximum allowable concentration: China MAC: the former Soviet Union MAC: the United States TLV—TWA: the standard has not been formulated.

Monitoring method:

Engineering control: the production process is sealed and ventilation is strengthened.

Respiratory system protection: When the concentration in the air exceeds the standard, you must wear a self-priming filter gas mask (half mask). Air respirator should be worn during emergency rescue or evacuation.

Eye protection: Wear safety glasses.

Physical protection: wear anti-static work clothes.

Hand protection: wear rubber gloves.

Preparation of 2-ethylhexyl acrylate (2-EHA)

1. Acrylic acid and 2-ethyl hexanol were esterified by direct esterification with sulfuric acid as catalyst, then neutralized, dealcoholized and rectified to obtain the finished product.

103- 1 1-7 preparation

2. Ester exchange method Methyl acrylate and 2-ethyl hexanol undergo ester exchange reaction in the presence of titanium tetrachloride as a catalyst to generate 2- ethylhexyl acrylate, and the finished product is obtained by rectification.

3. Methyl acrylate and 2- ethyl ethanolamine were mixed according to the molar ratio of 3∶ 1 (mol ratio), and the gas phase transesterification reaction was carried out at 227 ~ 228℃. The conversion rate was 32% and the yield was 97%. When the transesterification reaction was carried out in liquid phase, the yield was 70% ~ 80%.

4. Add a certain amount of acrylic acid, isooctanol, catalyst (SO42-/ZrO _ 2) and inhibitor phenothiazine into the reaction kettle, and heat and reflux until there is no water to separate out. The reaction liquid was washed with alkali and water until neutral, and then distilled under reduced pressure, and the product was collected. The amount of catalyst is 5% of the mass of acrylic acid, the amount of polymerization inhibitor is 0.05% of the mass of acrylic acid, the ratio of raw materials (isooctanol) to acrylic acid =1.2:1,the reaction temperature 120℃ and the reaction time is 3h.
