In the 10th year of Chongzhen (1637), on the 17th day of the first month, I left Li San in Shangqing Cave, and there was a Maye Cave. The cave is located in Mayewan, with Daling in the west, Hongbishan in the south, branches of Yunyang Mountain and Zaoheling in the east, and the west foot of Zaoheling in the north. Daling extends eastward, with two high mountains flowing down and a stream in the middle. The confrontation is like a door. There is a peak facing the door, and the towering stone suddenly comes out. (This) is General Mountain; Jianshui runs from its west, the branch of Zaoheling and the western end of Zaoheling, and ends here. There is a cliff facing south in the west of the stream. It turns like a bird spreading its wings and looks down at the stream in the east, while the branch of Daling ends here in the east. There is still a gap under the rotating cliff, which is too shallow to get in. There is a small stream in front of the cliff, which flows from west to east and flows into the big stream after crossing the cliff. Follow the stream to the rock on the west side of the cliff. Water flows out from below and a hole is opened in it, that is, Mayer Cave. The hole faces south, only Douda. When looking for the torch, they asked for a guide and promised to provide the torch, but no one dared to be a guide. Said, "There is a dragon in it." Some said, "There are goblins and ghosts inside. If you are not a person with magic, you can't shock them. " Finally, I found a very rich man. I was about to undress and asked me (knowing that I am a scholar, not a Taoist). I was shocked and said, "I thought (you) was an expert, so I wanted to follow (you) in." If I am a scholar, how can I be buried with my body? " I went to the village ahead and put my luggage in his house. Every servant and I went into the cave with torches. At that time, villagers followed dozens of people to the mouth of the cave, chopping wood with sickles, plowing with hoes, women cooking but not cooking, shuttle weaving, children grazing, passers-by carrying things, and no one dared to follow (we entered the cave). The two of us put our feet into the hole first, stepped on the stone steps one by one, passed the torch down and turned many times before reaching the bottom of the hole. The mouth of the cave is a little spacious, so you can look sideways, and then you can start to walk forward with a flashlight. The cracks in the cave have no entrance. There is a hole in the north, only one foot high and the same width. However, the bottom is dry and flat. Just put the torch in first, then climb forward like a snake, wipe your back against the cave wall, waist against the ground, and lean back (hard) to get through the first level of this cave. The crack inside is already very high, something has penetrated, but there is no place to go in. After the second level, its narrowness is the same as that of the lower level and the upper level, and its access mode is the same as that of the previous level. There are also transverse cracks in the inner layer (of the cave wall) after entering. The southwest crack is not very deep, and there is a sunken cave above the northeast crack, which suddenly cracks vertically, with a narrow top and no top. Here, the stone becomes a strange shape, and the texture changes suddenly, as if every piece is spiritual. The rift valley in the northwest is getting narrower and narrower, and there is only one crack, which can't hold the torch. Turn to the rift valley in the southeast, and there is another cave. Its ground is paved with sand and gravel, which is as clean and smooth as the bottom of a ravine, but it is dry and waterless, so it is not only unnecessary to mention clothes, but also to avoid getting dirty. At the southeast end of the rift valley, the rocks are tall and tired, overlapping like a balcony, and you can climb up through its gap. There is a cave above, which leads to the top of the cave. The light shines from the gap, like a crescent moon of stars. You can see it from a distance, but you can't pick it up. Under the piled stones, the bottom of the ravine leads to the south, and the covered stones are very low, only one foot high; This must have led to the outside of the cave before, that is, where the water flowed in, but I don't know why it flowed in the past and why it dried up now. It's incredible. Come down from the overlapping stone platforms and enter north along the bottom of the canyon. The narrow place is very low, similar to the two passes outside. Climb a grotto slowly from its west, turn north, and then go east, just like crossing a saddle-shaped rock and a steep mountain peak. The stone texture and color on the cave walls on both sides are very bright. The hanging stone milk and the upside-down Shi Lian are carved in texture and flying in shape. The next step eastward, the wet ground has become the inside of the pass. A roadway was opened here, two feet wide and one and a half feet high. The cover stone is as flat as a curtain, and the bottom of the ravine is as flat as a road. Walking half a mile north, there is a stone under it, which is like a bed with neat edges. Above it, Shi Lian hangs down, connected together like curtains, and combined into a "treasure cover", with stone curtains hanging around it, the size of a bed; The middle is round and transparent, the disk is empty and straight, and the top is raised. The western wall behind it, white pillars, big or small, stand upright, with different shapes, glittering and translucent colors and carved textures. This is the first wonder in the lane. Half a mile due north, the cave is divided into upper and lower floors, and the bottom of the canyon extends northeast. The hole above can climb up from the northwest. At this time, the torch I was holding had burned seven tenths. I was afraid that I wouldn't know the path on the way back (without the torch), so I took a few turns from the usual road, passed those two passes, and reached the light-transmitting place, and the torch was just burned out. Coming out of the hole seems to be reborn in another world. The number of people waiting to watch outside the cave has increased by dozens. They expressed their gratitude and surprise when they saw us (both of us) putting our hands on our foreheads. They regarded us as magical people and said, "I thought (you) must have fallen into the devil's mouth just now, so I dared not go in and couldn't leave." It's safe and sound now. If it weren't for the blessing of the gods, how could this happen! "I thanked them respectively and said," I did what I wanted to do. I was just exploring my scenic spot. How can I express my apologies for your long trouble? "However, the place where the cave is just the entrance is so narrow, and the interior (at that time) is clean and dry. No cave I have ever seen can catch up with (it). I want to know why the locals are so afraid to enter the cave!
