Looking for the best guide for a one-day trip to Huanglong River?

I go to college in Chengdu, Sichuan, and I usually go on short-term trips to surrounding attractions during my weekend holidays. Huanglongxi is located on the outskirts of Chengdu and is indeed a good place for a day trip on the weekend. I have been to Huanglongxi two or three times and have made a relatively detailed and complete guide. Let me share it with you~

1. Introduction to attractions

Huanglongxi Ancient Town is located in Shuangliu District, Chengdu City, Sichuan Province, is one of the top ten ancient water towns. Most of the buildings in the ancient town are from the Ming and Qing Dynasties. The smooth blue stone roads, shiny black door panels, antique signboards, and buildings with cornices and corners are full of ancient charm. The core scenic spot of Huanglongxi is famous for its "ten ancients" such as ancient streets, ancient trees, and ancient temples. Opposite the Zhenjiang Temple in the ancient town is the intersection of Jinjiang River and Luxi River. The water of Jinjiang River is clear and the water of Luxi River is brown. You can see the landscape of "Yellow Dragon crossing Qingjiang River, the real dragon is hidden inside".

Two or three kilometers up by boat from the mouth of Luxi River, you will arrive at the extended scenic area of ??Huanglong River. This scenic spot has the famous Big Buddha Temple and Guanyin Temple. The two temples are located on two mountains, facing each other from a distance. In addition, there is Chenjia Island, one of the "Five Huanglong Islands". The island is the only existing ancient water mill in western Sichuan. The squeaking sound of the ancient water mill has aroused people's sweet memories of farming culture...

2. Introduction to the scenic spot

3. Transportation Strategy

First of all, if you take a bus or bus, you have the following routes to choose from:

You can take a direct tour to the Huanglongxi Ancient Town Scenic Area at the Xinnanmen Bus Station of the Chengdu Tourism Distribution Center The ticket price is 15 yuan and the journey takes about 70 minutes.

You can take a tourist bus directly to the Huanglongxi Ancient Town Scenic Area from Chengdu Jinsha Station. The fare is 10 yuan and the journey takes about 70 minutes.

You can take bus No. 819 from Chengdu Bus Terminal to Huayang Passenger Transport Center, and then transfer to bus No. 821. The full fare is 4 yuan and the total journey time is 80 minutes.

You can take the bus to Shuangliu Passenger Transport Center at Chengdu Chadianzi Station, and then transfer to bus No. 808 directly to the Huanglongxi Ancient Town Scenic Area. The full fare is 8 yuan and the total journey time is 80 minutes.

I personally tried the second and third modes of transportation when I went to Huanglongxi for a short trip, but based on my personal experience, I recommend the second one. Both Chengdu Bus Terminal and Huayang Passenger Transport Center are relatively crowded, and the transfer time is long, and you must always be careful not to get off at the wrong station, which is inconvenient for tourists. The second method is much more worry-free. You can rest assured after getting in the car.

Secondly, if you want to travel by car, there are many routes to choose from:

Start from Tianfu Square in Chengdu, go straight along Renmin South Road to Shuanghua Road, Tianfu Avenue, and then turn left. Shuanghuang Avenue leads directly to Huanglongxi Scenic Area.

From the Chengdu Station of Chengnan Expressway, turn into the South Third Ring Road, then at the Tianfu Interchange of the Third Ring Road, turn into Shuanghua Road, Tianfu Avenue, and then turn into Shuanghua Avenue via Shuanghua Road to reach Huanglong River directly. Scenic spots.

Take the Chengdu Ring Expressway from Chengdu-Mian Expressway Chengdu Station, get off the expressway at the Tianfu Avenue exit, and then turn into Shuanghuang Avenue via Shuanghua Road to reach the Huanglong River Scenic Area.

Finally, traveling by subway is also a very good choice. We can get off at Huilong Station of Chengdu Metro Line 5, transfer to S18 and get off at Huanglongxi Bus Terminal, and finally walk 536 meters to Huanglongxi Scenic Area.

4. Recommendations for food and accommodation

1. A place to stay: When traveling, the first thing to decide is accommodation. If you are staying in a hotel, it is recommended to book in advance. But based on my experience, I recommend you to choose a unique local B&B. There are many B&Bs around Huanglong River, which are cost-effective, extremely private, and come in a variety of styles. I stayed in B&Bs during my two travels. They were really comfortable, and it didn't matter if I did laundry or cooking.

If you choose any B&B near Huanglongxi Scenic Area, you won’t be disappointed.

High value for money: B&Bs around the scenic area generally cost 200-300 yuan per night and can accommodate two people.

Excellent comfort: The B&B is not large, but the focus is on good comfort, cleanliness and a warm environment.

Transportation is relatively convenient: most B&Bs around the scenic area can be reached on foot, and B&Bs further away can be reached by bicycle.

2. Eat delicious food: Since you have come to Huanglongxi, you naturally want to try the local specialties. The local cuisine is mainly Sichuan cuisine. The taste is spicy, fresh and mellow, and the price/performance ratio is good. On average, you can enjoy a local specialty snack with a lot of ingredients for about 20 yuan on average. The following are snack recommendations that I have personally tasted and think are good. You can also try them yourself!

One root noodle: This snack, also known as longevity noodles, is a traditional noodle delicacy in Huanglongxi Ancient Town. A noodle needs to go through more than a dozen processes from kneading to cooking, so it tastes smooth and chewy, with endless aftertaste, spicy and refreshing, and the average price is about 15 yuan.

Stone-ground bean curd: also known as pearl bean curd, it is white in color, delicate in taste, and has a natural and fresh taste. It can be enjoyed for about ten yuan on average.

Huang spicy diced: This is a local wild river fish with delicate meat. Served with sansho pepper, red pepper, and coriander as auxiliary ingredients, the soup is delicious and tender, spicy and fragrant. After eating it once, you will never forget it. The price of fresh yellow chili dices is around 60 yuan per catty.

5. Time arrangement

1. Travel season: Huanglongxi Scenic Area has different scenery throughout the year, but it is recommended that you choose to visit in the summer from July to August. This way you can better appreciate the style of the ancient town. In addition, the ancient town has a stream passing through the streets. In the hot summer, you can come here to get close to the water to escape the heat and cool down all summer.

2. Tour order: Huanglongxi Ancient Town has profound culture and many attractions. I have summarized the best order for you to visit from my travel experience: West Sichuan Residential Cultural Street-Longtan Square-Gulong Temple-Ancient Wharf-Huanglong River Covered Bridge-Big Buddha Temple. This route eliminates the need to backtrack and allows you to appreciate the ancient town style to the maximum extent.

First stop: West Sichuan Folk Residence Cultural Street: Passing through the Shuhan Archway at the entrance of Huanglongxi Ancient Town is the West Sichuan Folk Residence Culture Street. The West Sichuan Residential Culture Street brings together the essence of courtyard architecture from different eras and styles in the West Sichuan Plain. Wandering on the path paved with blue bricks feels like traveling to another time and space.

Second stop: Longtan Square: Longtan Square is a sunken square with a large tripod in the middle. The square covers an area of ??about 2,000 square meters. It is surrounded by nine dragon pillars symbolizing the nine sons of the dragon. A tripod is cast in the center, which tells the historical legend of Zhuge Wuhou sinking the tripod to awaken the dragon.

Third stop: Gulong Temple: Gulong Temple is located at the south end of Huanglong Zheng Street. It is the earliest temple built in Huanglong River and is famous for its ancient temple, ancient stage and ancient banyan tree.

Fourth stop: Ancient Wharf: The ancient wharf was built at the intersection of Fu River and Luxi River. The turbid Luxi River originating from Longquan Mountain flows into the clear water of Minjiang River, like a roaring yellow dragon. to. This ancient wharf left over from the Three Kingdoms period is made of stone and is still intact today. Go boating on the river, sip tea and think about the past, and quietly think about the old times when boats came and went in Huanglong River.

Fifth stop: Huanglong River Covered Bridge: Huanglong River is dynamic because of its water. Jinjiang River and Luxi River meet in the ancient town and merge into one. Across both sides of the Jinjiang River, a majestic bridge is particularly eye-catching. This is the Huanglong River Covered Bridge. The covered bridge itself is a scene of its own, magnificent and majestic.

Sixth stop: Dafo Temple: Dafo Temple is located on the bank of Luxi River. When the weather is clear, standing near the ancient pier, you can see the temple with green smoke curling up on the other side. The earliest Huanglongxi Buddhist Temple was built in the Ming Dynasty. It is a solemn and upright temple with unique design.

6. Travel Tips

1. Huanglong River is close to the water, and there are also places to play with water in the scenic area. You can prepare raincoats and rain boots in advance and join the water fight crowd!

2. There are many good places to take pictures in Huanglongxi Ancient Town. Covered bridges, ancient archways and Chuanlong Street are all good for taking pictures.
