Reason:
Seaweed is an edible food made from dried laver with or without food additives and other raw materials by baking. According to different production and processing technologies, it can be divided into seasoning seaweed, baked seaweed and rock-burned seaweed. Because of the high iodine content in seaweed, people in iodine-deficient areas often eat seaweed, which can supplement iodine. However, in iodine-deficient areas, eating seaweed in large quantities at one time or eating too much seaweed often will increase the possibility of excessive iodine intake.
China Nutrition Society suggested that the recommended daily intake of iodine is 120 micrograms, and the maximum tolerable intake is 600 micrograms. 100 grams of laver contains 4323 micrograms of iodine, and the recommended daily amount is 2 to 3 grams.
