The moral of eating zongzi on Dragon Boat Festival is to commemorate Qu Yuan. Legend has it that one day a villager had a dream, saying that Qu Yuan told him in the dream that Qu Yuan's body was being swallowed up by fish in the river, hoping that the villagers could save him.
So the villagers told the dream to others the next day. Everyone came up with a way to make zongzi with glutinous rice wrapped in fragrant zongzi leaves, and then put it in the river to feed the fish, so that the fish would not eat Qu Yuan's body again, but only zongzi. So this traditional custom has been handed down. Now everyone eats zongzi in memory of Qu Yuan.
