The earliest tools used by human beings to count are fingers and toes, but they can only represent numbers within 20. When the number is large, most primitive people use pebbles and beans to count. In ancient China, a small stick made of wood, bamboo or bone was used to count numbers, which was called counting chips. These counting methods and symbols gradually changed into the earliest digital symbols. Today, all countries in the world use Arabic numerals as standard numbers.
