1995, local people artificially dug ponds on the low-lying land in Jingangling, planted some lotus roots, and earned about 800 yuan per mu. Extensive management has produced relatively good benefits and aroused people's interest in excavation. The town party committee and government summed up experience in time, gave appropriate guidance, organized personnel from relevant departments to conduct in-depth investigation and study, and invited experts from environmental protection, water conservancy, fisheries, forestry, geology and other fields to make on-the-spot investigations. It is agreed that: first, the nutrient content of the surface soil in Jingangling is low, and the soil layer on the weir can be thickened by excavation. Planting fruit and crops is better than before. After excavation, the pond is suitable for growing vegetables on the slope, and the clay layer is below, which has strong water retention. After transformation, lotus roots and fish can be planted. Second, the raw materials of organic fertilizer are sufficient. Nearly 200,000 tons of leftover materials such as garlic skin and onion roots from more than 0/00 dehydration enterprises in the town can be used as base fertilizer after retting, and the environmental pollution problem is solved at the same time. Third, the whole town has the advantage of processing agricultural products, and the deep processing prospect of lotus root is broad, so it can take the road of integration of agriculture, industry and trade, and the comprehensive social benefits are high. Therefore, the town party committee and government have established the idea of comprehensive development of 10,000 mu of low-and medium-yield fields in Jingangling, formulated a ten-year development plan, extended the land contract period for 30 years, and formulated preferential policies such as replacing compensation with awards and helping developers coordinate loans. At the same time, do a good job in social services, make unified planning and renovation of roads and canals in Jingangling area, set up high-voltage lines, and organized village cadres and lotus farmers to visit and study in Jiangsu, Zhejiang and other places for many times. The town government purchased lotus seeds in a unified way and hired relevant experts to give technical guidance. A demonstration site of science and technology was established, and the comprehensive development experiment of lotus root and fish interplanting in greenhouse was carried out to popularize advanced technology. Lotus seeds such as Little Bamboo, Big Bamboo, Kexuan 1, fry such as snakehead, crucian carp, sticky fish, American bullfrog, and famous and rare new varieties such as American Kettle Apricot, Mengyang Red Pomegranate, Western Pear, and Mortini Plum were introduced successively, and daylily was introduced, forming a "fruit on the pond, cabbage on the pond, lotus in the pond, fish in the water". By the end of 2005, the town had excavated more than 6-8 mu of lotus pond 1200, with a development area of 8600 mu. After development, the average yield per mu of lotus pond is 2000 kilograms of fresh lotus root and 50 kilograms of fish. Together with the income from weir and slope, the output value per mu is more than 6000 yuan, and the income per mu of lotus root fish in individual lotus root greenhouses has exceeded 8000 yuan. In addition, together with the scientific research department, we are studying and exploring the deep processing of lotus root products, making use of the advantages of vegetable processing in Bahu Lake, so that the lotus root products in Bahu Lake can go abroad and go to the world, and embark on a new way of connecting the international market, connecting the base farmers, integrating trade, industry and agriculture, and integrating production, processing and marketing. At the same time, pavilions, terraces, buildings, pavilions, yachts and other fishing and leisure houses will be built.
In 2005, the provincial scientific research department conducted a straw reactor test in the lotus pond of Jinganling, and the results showed that the yield of lotus root was high and the quality was good.
In July 2006, Bahu Town was named as the "Hometown of Lotus Roots in Yimeng" by the Municipal Agriculture Bureau and the Municipal Organic Agricultural Products Association. Ten thousand mu of lotus pond in Jingangling has become an ecological demonstration park with high efficiency, characteristics, sightseeing and tourism.
