Types of wine glasses
According to the classification of wine, wine glasses can be divided into three categories: red wine glasses, white wine glasses and champagne wine glasses.
There are two kinds of red wine glasses: one is Bordeaux wine glasses, with a tulip-shaped cup body and slender high feet, which are beautiful in appearance. A wide mouth is good for smelling wine with your nose. This kind of wine glass is suitable for strong red wine.
The other is a Burgundy cup with a big belly and a small mouth. If you don't go through the decanter, pour it directly into the glass to sober up, and gently shake the glass, so that the red wine is not easy to overflow. This wine glass is suitable for drinking fruity red wine, which is beneficial to the volatilization of fruity flavor.
There is only one kind of white wine glass, namely white wine glass or Riesling cup. The cup body is a bit like a Bordeaux cup, but the cup body is longer, the cup body doesn't have much curvature, and the corners are tough. Because drinking white wine is suitable for low temperature, the capacity of glass is smaller than that of red wine glass.
Champagne glasses are divided into two categories and three types. One is deep, the other is tulip-shaped and the other is flute-shaped. As the name implies, tulip-shaped cups are like tulips, and flute-shaped cups are inverted acute triangles. The common feature of these two kinds of glasses is that the glass body is particularly long, which is beneficial to prevent the bubbles of champagne from spreading.
The other is a shallow champagne glass. There are many shapes, the most common one is the obtuse triangle of inverted triangle. This wine glass can also be used as a cocktail glass. Of course, it is also called cocktail glass.
Wine classification
Most wine glasses are made of smooth and transparent materials, because the first step of tasting wine is to look at the color of the wine. Transparent materials can help us understand the grape variety and year of wine. Standard wine glasses are generally conical, and the belly of the glass will be larger than the opening, because the sommelier will shake the glass to release the aroma of the wine, which is convenient for shaking the glass without spilling the wine, and the inward narrowing of the glass opening is beneficial to the cohesion of the wine. In addition, the legs of wine glasses are generally slender, so wine glasses are also called goblets. One of the reasons for choosing a goblet is to avoid asking questions on the belly of the goblet, and because wine is extremely sensitive to temperature, pinching the foot or bottom of the goblet can avoid asking questions and affect the taste of wine.
