The dirt inside the cat’s ears may be earwax secretions or ear mites.
Earwax is yellow, and you can usually clean it with wet wipes or cotton swabs.
Ear mites are dark brown and are caused by ear infection with scabies. They can cause severe itching in cats and can also cause ear hair to fall out. In severe cases, it may cause otitis media or otitis interna, and even cause hearing loss.
To treat ear mites, you can use ear cleaning solution to drop into the cat’s ears, then gently rub the base of the ears, and finally let go of the cat and let the cat shake out the stains. Then you can use cotton swabs or paper towels to wipe excess water stains and clean them. Dirt that is not thrown out.
Ear mites need to be cleaned for a period of time to be completely cured, and the owner needs to be more patient.
