Efficacy and indications: relieving exterior syndrome, relieving cough and asthma. Indications: Exogenous wind-cold and water-drinking are manifested by aversion to cold, fever, anhidrosis, excessive and thin phlegm, or cough due to excessive phlegm, inability to lie down, or severe body pain, edema of head, face and limbs, white and slippery tongue coating and floating pulse.
Description: The syndrome treated by this prescription is caused by feeling cold after abstinence. If you drink cold from the outside and drink from the inside, you can't understand this entanglement. You can't get rid of water if you just relieve the exterior and interior. If you drink exclusively, you can't understand the cold outside. Only sweating and drinking, treating both inside and outside, is the right method. Therefore, Ephedra and Cinnamomum cassia are the monarch in the prescription, sweating and relieving exterior syndrome, removing cold and dispersing lung. Dried ginger and asarum are ministers, warming the lungs to relieve alcoholism, and also helping hemp and cinnamon to relieve exterior symptoms. However, lung qi is very unfavorable, for fear of hurting lung qi and preventing warm dryness from hurting yin, so Schisandra chinensis is used to astringe lung qi and Paeonia lactiflora is used to nourish yin and blood as an adjuvant. Pinellia ternata is also an adjuvant for eliminating phlegm and calming the stomach. Roasting grass can tonify qi, tonify middle energizer, reconcile pungent, pungent and sour medicines, and can also be used as an auxiliary. When the eight flavors are combined, the cold can be relieved, the water can be drunk, the lung qi can be restored, and the healthy qi can be declared, then the symptoms will be relieved. However, the dosage of Schisandra chinensis and Paeonia lactiflora in the prescription should not be too much, so as not to fall in love with evil.
This prescription is a good prescription for resolving exterior syndrome by dissolving the fluid, and its clinical application is based on aversion to cold, fever, anhidrosis, cough, asthma, thin and white phlegm, thirst, white fur and floating pulse.
Both this prescription and Daqinglong decoction are responsible for exterior and interior cold, but they are both hot and irritable, and they all stop drinking cold internally, so the published drugs are the same, but the drugs used internally are different. Daqinglong decoction is mixed with gypsum to clear away heat and relieve annoyance, but this recipe uses ginger, spice and Pinellia to warm up the cold, which is completely different. Should not be confused and misused by their names.

Qingzao Jiufei Decoction consists of 9 grams of mulberry leaves (frost), 8 grams of gypsum (calcined), 3 grams of licorice, flaxseed, donkey-hide gelatin and loquat leaves (depilated), 2 grams of ginseng, 2 grams of almond and 4 grams of Ophiopogon japonicus. This prescription was made by Yu Chang, a physician in Qing Dynasty. Mulberry leaves in the prescription are light and cold, activating qi with lung collaterals, and clearing away the evil of lung dryness and heat, which embodies the academic thought of "burning like feathers, not light". Because mulberry leaves enter the lung and liver meridian, the ancients called it "lung armor Yao Gan", which has the function of clearing liver heat, and can prevent liver wood from being deceived when lung qi and yin are deficient. It's the monarch medicine. If gypsum is used again, it will cool and disperse, and it will have the effect of relaxing muscles and tendons to clear lung heat. Ophiopogon japonicus is sweet and cold, moistening lung and nourishing yin, and * * * is a minister medicine. "Difficult Classics" says that "those who damage the lungs benefit their qi", so it is wonderful to use ginseng to replenish qi and produce fluid and licorice to replenish the spleen and stomach. Colla Corii Asini and Sesame Nourish Yin and moisten the lungs, so that the lungs are wet, and the symptoms are eliminated by themselves; Almond and loquat leaves can clear lung qi and reduce lung fire, all of which are adjuvant drugs. The function of the whole prescription is to clear away lung heat, reduce lung adverse qi and save lung, hence the name "clearing away dryness and saving lung". Yu's feeling is "the ancient and modern method of treating qi stagnation, using pungent dryness to promote qi circulation, but no one can cure lung dryness, using sweet and cool moistening dryness to make a decoction for clearing dryness and saving lung".
