Early-maturing type
Kale
This type is characterized by strong heat resistance. At higher temperatures (27-28℃), the flower buds can grow quickly. Differentiation, lowering temperature has no obvious promotion effect on flower bud differentiation. It can be cultivated by direct seeding in the open field from mid-April to early August. Young-leaf early kale
It is a Guangzhou farm variety. The leaves of the plant are oval, dark blue-green, smooth and waxy, and the base is deeply divided into ear-shaped lobes. The main moss is medium-high, the flowers are white, the curds are compact, the main moss weighs 30-50 grams, the texture is crisp and the branching force is strong. It takes 60 to 65 days from sowing to the first harvest, and the harvest of side moss continues for 30 days.
Willow Leaf Early Kale
An introduced variety from Guangzhou. The plant is relatively upright, with long oval leaves, gray-green, weak main moss, medium growth potential, and tender and crisp quality. It takes about 60 days from sowing to first harvest, and the continuous harvest lasts for 30 to 40 days.
Heat-resistant kale
Introduced varieties from Guangzhou. The plant has medium growth potential. The leaves are wide and oval, smooth and dark green. The main flower moss is of medium size, with an average unit weight of 30 grams. It takes 60 to 65 days from sowing to first harvest and about 30 days to continue harvesting.
Mid-maturing type
It has strong adaptability in the Beijing area, is heat-resistant, and has a high yield as an early-maturing species. It can be sown according to market needs and is suitable for cultivation in open fields and protected areas. Annual production supplies the market. The main varieties are:
Dengfeng kale
Guangzhou introduced varieties. It has wide cultivation adaptability, good vegetable moss quality, neat appearance, sparse internodes of the main moss, thin skin, thick flesh and crisp tenderness. It is very popular with consumers. Generally, the main flower moss weighs 50-70 grams, has strong branching force and consistent bolting. . It takes 65 to 70 days from sowing to first harvest, and the continuous harvest lasts for 50 days. The quality of the first side buds is better than that of the main moss.
Foshan Zhongchi Kale
Guangzhou introduced varieties. The plant is tall, has strong growth potential, strong branching ability, and oval and smooth leaves. The main moss is long and plump, the curd is larger, the main moss weighs 50 to 200 grams, and is crisp and tender with little fiber. It takes about 70 days from sowing to first harvest, and it can take up to 70 days to continue harvesting side flower moss.
Taiwan Chinese kale
The plant height is about 30 to 35 cm. The basal leaves are oval and have wax powder. The stem of the main moss is thick, the stems and leaves are oval, and the main moss weighs 80 to 150 grams. The germination ability of lateral flower moss is medium.
Red-legged kale
It is a famous variety of Chaoshan kale. It can only be produced in Mianhu. It is said to contain more iron, so the roots and legs are red. Stir-fried with fish sauce and lard over high heat, it's crispy, sweet, fragrant and soft, and is a great addition to rice.
The late-maturing type
Compared with Foshan medium-late kale and Taiwan medium-flowered kale, the heat resistance is poor. Lower temperature and extended low temperature time can promote flower bud differentiation. Flower bud differentiation can also be achieved at higher temperature, but it takes longer time. This type of variety is cultivated in Beijing in spring and summer, and the total yield of this type of variety is higher than that of early-maturing varieties.
"Ke Cun Copper Shell Leaf" kale
The plant is tall and strong and grows vigorously. The leaves are nearly round, thin in texture, and have less wax powder. The leaf surface is slightly wrinkled, and the leaf edge is slightly curved inward, shaped like a shell. The leaf base is deeply divided into ear-like lobes. The main flower moss weighs about 100 grams, is crisp and tender, has little fiber, and has strong germination ability on the side flower branches. It takes 70 to 80 days from sowing to first harvest, and 50 days of continuous harvesting of side flower moss. Cultivation in protected areas performs well, with a general yield of 2,500 kilograms per mu.
"Sanyuanli Late Flowering" Kale
The plant has strong growth potential, thick stems, large, nearly round leaves, smooth leaf surface, and less wax powder. The main flower moss is long, the average unit weight is 150 grams, the texture is crisp and tender, and the flavor is good. Branching power is moderate. It takes about 80 days from sowing to the first harvest. Strengthening water and fertilizer management can extend the harvest for 60 days, with a yield of about 2,500 kilograms per mu.
