Litchi is an evergreen tree belonging to the genus Litchi in the family Sapindaceae, with a height of about 10 m, a scaly skin, bright red or purplish red, and bright red at maturity. All seeds are wrapped by fleshy arils.
Litchi, together with bananas, pineapples and longan, is known as the "Four Great Fruits in South China".
Litchi is distributed in the southwest, south and southeast of China, and is most cultivated in Guangdong and southern Fujian.
