Eight-treasure porridge, also known as Laba porridge and Buddha porridge, is a traditional festival food in China. It is a kind of porridge cooked with various ingredients in Laba Festival. It contains more than eight kinds of materials, such as mung bean, red bean, lentil, white lentil, red date, peach kernel, peanut, lotus seed, longan, pine nut, yam, lily, medlar, gordon euryales and coix seed. The original meaning of "eight-treasure porridge" refers to porridge made from eight different raw materials. But today, many "eight-treasure porridge" materials have exceeded eight kinds.
