Cirrhosis is a chronic wasting disease, and it has been proven that nutritional therapy can reduce the disability and mortality of cirrhosis patients. So, how should cirrhosis patients eat on a daily basis? Prof. Yang Hui, director of the gastroenterology department of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University, suggests that the following eight principles should be kept in mind-
1. Diversify the recipes and make them soft and tasty, easy to digest
Cirrhosis patients' digestive function is generally reduced, and they will have a loss of appetite. Therefore, the choice of food can be based on their own preferences, and if conditions allow, they should pay attention to the color, taste and aroma, but the cooking methods are generally steaming, boiling, simmering and stewing. Avoid frying, deep-frying cooking methods.
2. Ensure sufficient daily intake of calories
Ensure sufficient daily intake of calories, can reduce the digestion of protein, reduce the burden on the liver, conducive to the synthesis of tissue protein. At the same time, adequate sugar intake can ensure that the liver synthesizes and stores hepatic glycogen, which is necessary to prevent toxin damage to liver cells. Therefore, it is recommended to eat small and frequent meals and avoid fasting for more than 3-4 hours during the day to ensure a continuous supply of energy, thus reducing the burden and damage to the liver. It is especially recommended to add a meal before bedtime, choosing no less than 50 grams of carbohydrates, such as two slices of square bread, or two fist-sized buns, or half a bowl of noodles.
3. Intake of rich vitamins
Vitamin B has an important physiological role in promoting digestion, protecting the liver and preventing fatty liver, Vitamin C promotes metabolism and has a detoxification function, fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E on the liver have varying degrees of protection ...... daily intake of enough fresh Green leafy vegetables and fruits, such as spinach, tomatoes, various beans, mushrooms, kiwi, hawthorn, etc., to meet the needs of the body.
Recommended a simple dish: tomatoes boiled soybean, not only can provide a variety of vitamins, there are high-quality plant proteins, sweet and sour, appetizing and delicious, may wish to try.
4. Intake of appropriate amount of protein
High-protein diet is important for the protection of liver cells, repair of damaged liver cells. However, those who have suffered from hepatic encephalopathy are advised to control their daily protein intake at 1-1.5g/kg according to their body weight, and give priority to plant protein and dairy protein, such as a variety of soybean products, yogurt, cheese, egg custard, etc.

5. Intake of appropriate amount of minerals, moderate supplementation of zinc and magnesium
Cirrhosis patients lack of zinc and magnesium, it is recommended that patients moderate supplementation of zinc and magnesium in the daily diet.
6. Fat should not be more, animal oil is forbidden, a small amount of vegetable oil can be used.
Liver bile synthesis and secretion of patients with cirrhosis is reduced, which makes fat not easy to be digested and absorbed, so it is recommended to take vegetable oil in small amount daily. Avoid excessive fat intake to induce fatty liver, prevent the synthesis of liver glycogen, and further injure the liver function.
7. Salt intake should be moderate
Hyponatremia is a risk factor for hepatic encephalopathy, it is recommended that the daily sodium intake of cirrhotic patients should not be less than 60 mmol / liter, which is equivalent to 3.5 grams of salt. However, if patients with cirrhosis have ascites, sodium intake should be reduced, although there is controversy over whether long-term sodium should be limited, but the daily intake of sodium should not be less than 60 mmol/liter per day, otherwise the appetite or lead to a reduction in total energy and protein intake.
8. Prohibition of alcohol
