The male appendage is on the ventral surface of the base of the inner limb of the second abdominal limb, and is an obliquely arranged oblong lamellar protuberance with two hook-like spines at the tip. The basal limb of the caudal limb has a red dot on the ventral surface, and the inner limb is shorter than the outer limb, with a red dot on the outer side of the base.

The hairy shrimp is a pelagic shrimp, preferring to live in a large amount of freshwater discharge of shallow marine environment and a strong tide of the mud bottom shallow water, usually in the Bay of Australia or near the mouth of the river.
