The bestseller "The Scent of Chrysanthemums" (written by Kim Ha-in), which struck a chord in the hearts of millions of readers, has finally been made into a movie. The Scent of Chrysanthemums faithfully brings the contents of the novel to the screen.

The movie depicts the story of In Ha (Park Hae-il), who has been secretly in love with his college senior sister Hee Sae (Jang Jin-young) for seven years and finally gets his wish to marry her, but is immediately greeted with Hee Sae's death. After losing her fiancé and parents in an accident, Hee Sae lives her life with a closed heart when In Ha makes a selfless advances. Happiness is also short-lived, and after becoming pregnant, Hime-sae discovers she has cancer.

The movie starts with a radio station PD In Ha reading out a letter to Hye Sae through his radio program. At the end, Hee-sa also writes an anonymous letter to In-ha's radio program. The two of them talk to each other through letters like the plot of an epistolary novel.
