The difference between onions and garlic sprouts is:
1. They have different toughness.
Small green onions are very crisp, and their whites and leaves are easily broken. Garlic sprouts are relatively strong and not easily broken.
2. The two taste different.
The smell of green onions is glutinous, which can stimulate the tear glands and make people shed tears. Compared with onions, garlic sprouts are slightly spicy, giving people a spicy feeling when eating.
3. The appearance of the two is different.
Garlic sprouts are also called green garlic (garlic turns yellow when not exposed to light). Good-quality garlic seedlings are relatively fresh and tender, with a plant height of about 35 cm, bright green leaves, neither yellow nor rotten, white hairy roots that are not wilted, and a strong spiciness.
The roots of green onions are white, string-shaped, with few and short lateral roots. The number, length and thickness of roots continue to increase as the total number of leaves in the plant increases. The stem is extremely shortened and spherical or oblate, solitary or clustered, 1~2cm thick, with white outer skin, membranous and not broken. The leaf consists of a leaf body and a leaf sheath. The leaf body is conical, hollow, green or dark green, and a single leaf sheath is cylindrical.
