Thought of by the story "A Little Horse Crosses the River
Just five months after the birth of the little grandson, my daughter began to try early education. This is, again, to buy picture books, and listen to audio materials. One of the stories is called "A Little Horse Crosses the River", and I found out that there are two versions of it, and it is intriguing to compare them.

Synopsis: There was an old horse and a young horse living in a stable. One day, the old horse said to the pony, "When you grow up, can you do something for your mommy?" The pony said, "Of course I can!" The old horse said, "Now you help mommy carry this bag of wheat to the mill." Then the pony happily carried the wheat to the mill. As he walked, a small river blocked the way. Looking at the flowing river, the pony began to hesitate. He thought to himself, "How wonderful it would be if his mother were with him!" At this moment, the pony saw the old cow grazing by the river, so he went over to ask Uncle Cow if the river was deep, and the old cow replied that the water was not deep enough to pass. Just when the pony was ready to wade across the river, a little squirrel in the tree rushed to stop, saying that a few days ago there was a little friend drowned in this river. So the pony went home again and asked his mother, who encouraged the pony to try and find a way to cross the river by himself. Eventually the pony came back to the river, tried the depth of the river by himself, crossed the river successfully, and carried the wheat to the mill.

This is a paraphrase of the Chinese fairy tale illustrated book "A Little Horse Crosses the River" (published by Shanghai Education Press), which has many pages, so I won't go into details here. The "Little Douding Dad Storytelling" (online version) that I listened to was slightly different. First of all, the traditional picture book is about the mom teaching the pony to cross the river, while the online version is about the dad teaching the pony what to do in case of trouble; this point has no summarizing value, but the key lies in the difference in the way of education between the mom and the dad. The mom explains the method to the pony and then lets the pony try it alone, while the dad, when he sees that the pony is confused, comes to the river with the pony and instructs the pony to try to cross the river on the spot. Secondly, in the picture book, the squirrel says to the pony, "A little friend drowned the other day", while in the online version, the squirrel says, "A little friend was swept away by the river the other day". It's also evidence of the dangers of wading in the water, but the latter makes more sense.

Admittedly, writing articles, storytelling, everyone has their own habits of expression, each person has their own style, can be said to be benevolent, wise and wise. This is my listening to the "Pony Crossing" a little experience, I hope that when I write, I can also develop the habit of weighing the words, repeated refinement, so as to write a more beautiful text.
