For example, Zhu Yuanzhang personally invented a drink, namely "Sour Plum Soup", which we like to drink and often drink in summer. Zhu Yuanzhang was a peddler selling ebony at the end of Yuan Dynasty. When the plague was rampant, Zhu Yuanzhang was unfortunately ill. When he struggled to take ebony out of the warehouse, he suddenly smelled the sour taste of ebony and was refreshed. So, he used ebony as the main raw material and boiled it with hawthorn and licorice every day. A few days later, his plague was miraculously cured.
From then on, Zhu Yuanzhang changed to sell sour plum soup to ward off evil spirits. People bought it one after another, and Zhu Yuanzhang became rich quickly, which laid the economic foundation for his later anti-Yuan uprising.
After Zhu Yuanzhang proclaimed himself emperor, he still had a soft spot for sour plum soup. He often drinks sour plum soup to remove oil from his body, invigorate qi and soothe the nerves. Therefore, Sour Plum Soup became a daily health drink in the court of Ming Dynasty. Soon, a franchise store of sour plum soup appeared among the people. The time-honored brand "Jiulong Zhai" is the most famous in Beijing, and it is known as "the first sour plum soup in Kyoto". Zhu Yuanzhang is regarded as the originator of the sour plum soup industry, and it is not difficult to find his portrait in many sour plum soup shops.
Today, Beijing roast duck is famous all over the world. Foreigners must try this famous dish when they come to Beijing. In fact, roast duck originally originated in Nanjing and was also related to Zhu Yuanzhang. It is said that after Zhu Yuanzhang proclaimed himself emperor, the capital was in Nanjing. He likes to eat duck, but the cooked, stewed and steamed ducks feel bored and unhappy all day. The chef racked his brains and changed the traditional cooking method. He roasted ducks with fruit and charcoal fire, which was tender but not greasy. It was named "Roast Duck" by Zhu Yuanzhang.
After Zhu Yuanzhang's death, his son Zhu Di, the prince of Yan, seized the throne by force and moved the capital to Beijing. Roast duck technology has also spread to Beijing and has been further developed. The famous "Quanjude" roast duck restaurant in Beijing was opened in Tongzhi period of Qing Dynasty, and it is still very popular. I'm afraid I have to thank Zhu Yuanzhang who likes roast duck.
