In August 1951, Wang Guoxing introduced the situation of the Baisha Uprising in August 1943 to members of the Central Ethnic Visiting Group at Shicun, the site of the uprising.

Seventy years ago, under the leadership of Li leader Wang Guoxing, the Li and Miao people in Baisha County, who were persecuted by the Japanese at that time, plotted a major riot to resist the atrocities of the Japanese - the Baisha Uprising. As news of the uprising leaked out, the leaders of Baisha District 1 launched the uprising in advance on August 12, firing the first shot of the Baisha Uprising.

Rusty powder guns, wooden black crossbows, curved horns... these objects lie quietly in the Baisha Uprising Memorial Hall located in Hongmao Town, Qiongzhong Li and Miao Autonomous County In the display case. If it were not for the text descriptions in the exhibition hall, it would be difficult for people to imagine what kind of bloody storm they had experienced with their owners.

Seventy years ago, it was with the help of these simple weapons that the Li leader Wang Guoxing led the Li and Miao people who had been persecuted by the Communist Party to rise up in resistance and launch the Baisha Uprising. The uprising lasted for half a month, with more than 20,000 participants, more than 300 enemies were annihilated, and a batch of ammunition and supplies was seized. Almost all the *** troops in Baisha County were driven out of the county.

Today, in Qiongzhong, which was at the center of the uprising, it is difficult to find traces of that shocking uprising. Xie Jinqi is a retired cadre from the Qiongzhong County Party History and County Chronicle Office. He has been studying the Baisha Uprising for decades. Night attack on Shicun

On the last day of July 2013, the scorching sun swept away the coolness brought by the rain in the previous two days, and the heat Got everything under control.

In an old courtyard in Shicun Village, Hongmao Town, dozens of silkworm plaques are neatly placed on the cement floor. The doors of the low-rise buildings around the courtyard were closed, leaving only the sound of cicadas driving the midday silence.

If we go back to 70 years ago, this scene was still the location of the liaison offices of Baisha, Baoting and Ledong counties of the Communist Party of China at that time. One early morning in August of that year, a fierce and thrilling battle to the death took place here.

At about 1 o'clock in the morning on August 17, 1943, a death squad composed of more than 20 Li men in their prime were quietly approaching a cell here. This group of suicide squads armed with machetes, bows and arrows and powder guns want to rescue a group of important people.

These important figures were Wang Guoxing, the leader of the Li ethnic group in Hongmao Township and the leaders of other townships at that time.

Under the leadership of Wang Guoxing, the Li and Miao people in Baisha County were plotting a major riot against the atrocities of the Communist Party - the Baisha Uprising. However, because news of the uprising leaked out, the leaders of Baisha District 1 had no time to wait for the agreed uprising time of August 17, and launched the uprising in advance on August 12, firing the first shot of the Baisha Uprising.

After the news of the early uprising in Baisha District 1 reached Hongmao Township in Baisha District 2, Wang Guoxing knew that the uprising could no longer wait!

However, Li Youmei, director of the Liaison Office of the Three Counties of *** and head of Baisha District 2, who also learned the news, had already begun to implement a plan to capture the leaders of the uprising. On August 16, Li Youmei controlled Wang Guoxing and nine other township chiefs and security chiefs in a small room in the liaison office, preparing to execute them uniformly after all the uprising leaders in Baisha District 2 were captured.

From the conversation between the guards outside the house, Wang Yujin, the chief security officer of Hongmao Township, learned about the enemy's plan. He cleverly used the toilet as an excuse to escape and rushed back to Maoxi Village, the planned location of the uprising team. , led a suicide squad to the liaison office to rescue Wang Guoxing and others. Thousands of Li people waiting in Maoxi Village were already gearing up to attack. They agreed to use the sound of gunshots as a signal to launch a general attack.

Perhaps due to excessive nervousness, when approaching the liaison office, a member of the death squad stumbled and fell. The powder gun in his hand went off, "Bang"! An unexpected gunshot shook the valley, and the gunshot pierced the silent night sky in the mountainous area.

At this time, the thousands-strong Li army, which was quietly marching here, suddenly heard the sound of gunshots, thinking it was a previously scheduled attack signal, and immediately rushed towards Shicun with a roar. Swords flashed, bows and arrows flew, roaring voices washed away the silence of the night like floods, and the angry crowd spread toward Shicun like erupting magma. The uprising in Hongmao Township has begun!

Soon, Wang Yujin led a death squad to successfully rescue Wang Guoxing. At this time, the liaison office was surrounded by insurgents. *** officers and soldiers scrambled to escape. The insurgents killed more than 10 enemy troops in the dark. Before dawn, Shicun had been occupied by the rebels.

Plotting an uprising

This uprising stemmed from the endless suffering of the Li and Miao people.

In the 1940s, Hainan Island was occupied by the Japanese army. *** The army took refuge in the Wuzhi Mountain area where Li and Miao compatriots live.

The Li and Miao compatriots here enthusiastically accepted these fleeing Japanese military and political officials and their families. Unexpectedly, what followed was a huge disaster - exorbitant taxes and miscellaneous taxes made the villages depressed, People were forced to do hard labor day and night, and the inhumane mass killings soaked the land with blood...

On July 31, 2013, in a farmyard in Fanxiang Village, Hongmao Town , an old whitewashed bungalow with closed windows and doors. "This is the former residence of Wang Guoxing. This tile-roofed house was built by *** after the founding of the People's Republic of China." Standing under the jackfruit tree in front of the tile-roofed house, Xie Jinqi was thoughtful, as if he wanted to try his best to recreate in his mind the existence of Wang Guoxing. Scenes of life here, "This is the earliest birthplace of the Baisha Uprising."

In the Baisha Uprising Memorial Park a few kilometers away from Fanxiang Village, a monument made of large granite blocks stands tall. Engraved with 12 large golden characters written by ***: "The heroes of the Baisha Uprising will live forever."

Looking across the monument, Xie Jinqi pointed to a large mountain directly behind the monument and said, "That's Mount Delun."

One day in June 1942, it was here that On the mountain, Wang Guoxing summoned the security chiefs of Hongmao Township and held the first preparatory meeting for the far-reaching Baisha Uprising.

Later, in order to unite the Li compatriots in the county to launch an uprising, these leaders traveled separately throughout the Wuzhi Mountains and connected with the more agreeable leaders around them. For a time, the Li people in this area were all polishing their guns, sharpening their knives, bending their bows and sharpening arrows, and secretly prepared for an uprising.

In August of the same year, Wang Guoxing held the second preparatory meeting for the Baisha Uprising in Shiqin Mountain, Hongmao Township. More than 50 representatives attended the meeting, including Miao leaders. At this meeting, Wang Guoxing was elected as the commander-in-chief of the Baisha Uprising.

On that day, all participants of the meeting killed chickens and drank blood to swear an oath to heaven according to the ancient traditional custom of the Li people. Wang Guoxing took the lead and raised his bowl and said to everyone: "I swear to live and die together with my compatriots. Everyone will enjoy the blessings, and I will be responsible for the misfortunes!"

Two months later, Wang Guoxing and Wang Yujin secretly turned over. Yinggeling walked nearly a hundred miles of mountain road and came to Dalang Mountain in Dayang Village, Baisha Township. They discussed the uprising with many leaders here, and once again made an oath to the Heavenly Alliance and shouted in one voice: "Kill them all." National traitors, revenge, live and die together, never betray!"

This time the rebellion of most of the leaders in the county gave a great impetus to the general uprising of the people in the county! effect.

In December 1942, at the third preparatory meeting for the Baisha Uprising in Kanmao Village, Hongmao Township, Wang Guoxing solemnly announced: There will be a county-wide riot on August 20 next year!

Like a volcano that has accumulated for thousands of years, the oppressed people are waiting in excitement to erupt! The lava of revolution is about to erupt!

The rebels became more and more courageous as they fought, and there were more and more people.

Good news of victory continued to come - the rebels in Maogui and Maozhan attacked the three *** counties of Ganfen, Changjiang and Ledong stationed in Maokan, Zhangzhitou and other places. After winning a complete victory, the rebels marched eastward and wiped out dozens of stubborn enemies in Shitonghei Village. The remaining remaining enemies fled towards Yinggen.
