3 Therefore, the career that the saint engages in is a career that excludes all human efforts; the teaching that the saint performs is a teaching that transcends all words.
4 He raises up all things but does not think he is great, brings forth life without appropriating it for himself, gives without taking credit for his own ability, and does not take credit for his success.
5 He takes no credit for his work, but his work is eternal.
Chapter 3 1 If you do not respect the virtuous, the people will not fight.
2. Rare and inexpensive goods prevent people from stealing.
3 There is no desire to see, so that the people’s minds will not be confused.
4 This is the rule of the sage: empty his heart, strengthen his belly, weaken his will, and strengthen his bones.
5 It often makes the people ignorant and desireless, and makes the wise men dare not do anything.
6 If you do nothing, then everything will be cured.

2 Only by not valuing rare treasures can people stop stealing.

5 People are often in a state of not seeking knowledge and wanting nothing, so even if there are people who show off their wisdom, they cannot act recklessly.
6 If you follow the path of inaction, there will be no injustice.
Chapter 4 1 The Tao rushes and is used, but it is not full for a long time, and the abyss is like the origin of all things.
2. Defeat its sharpness, dissolve its confusion, harmonize its light, and be the same as its dust, and it may seem as if it is pure.
