No. 7 Middle School and No. 1 Middle School are Category II public schools that pay attention to students’ personality growth. The predecessor of Chengdu No. 7 Middle School Bayi School was the Chengdu Bayi School of the Tibet Military Region of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, which was established in March 1950.

In 2013, the school was directly managed by Chengdu No. 7 Middle School as a whole and was renamed Chengdu No. 7 Middle School Bayi School.

As of January 2017, Chengdu No. 7 Middle School Bayi School covers an area of ??78.1 acres, has 57 teaching classes, more than 2,300 students, and 280 faculty and staff.
