1. The ancients ate ginger
Shennong tasted a hundred herbs to distinguish the medicinal properties. After eating poisonous mushrooms by mistake, he fell into a coma. After waking up, he found a clump of grass lying down. Shennong pulled it out and chewed its root in his mouth. After a while, my stomach was rumbling, and after diarrhea, my body was all right. Shennong's surname is Jiang, so he named this pointed leaf grass "Ginger". It means that it works magically and can bring itself back to life.
Confucius lived to 73 years old, which was definitely a high life in the Spring and Autumn Period. This is inseparable from Confucius' healthy diet view and hygienic habits. Among them, there is the credit of ginger.
2. Ceng Zi kills pigs
Ceng Zi's wife is going to the market, and her son is crying with her. His mother (Ceng Zi's wife) said, "Go back and kill a pig for you when I get home." When his wife came back from the market, Ceng Zi was going to catch a pig and kill it. His wife stopped him and said, "It was just a joke with the children."
Ceng Zi said, "Children can't play with him. Children are not sensible. They have to learn by their parents step by step and listen to their parents' teachings. Now you cheat him, you are teaching him to cheat. If a mother deceives her son, a son will not trust his mother. This is not the way to educate his children. " So he killed the pig and cooked it.
3. Dongpo Meat
On January 3, 189, the fourth year of Yuanyou, Song Zhezong, Su Shi came to Hangzhou, where he was known for fifteen years. During May and June of the fifth year of Yuanyou, there was heavy rain in the west of Zhejiang Province, Taihu Lake flooded and large areas of crops were flooded. Because Su Shi took effective measures as early as possible, the people in western Zhejiang passed through the most difficult period. He organized migrant workers to dredge the West Lake, build dikes and bridges, and make the West Lake look new.
The people in Hangzhou are very grateful to Su Shi for this good deed. Everyone praises him as a wise parent. I heard that he liked pork best when he was in Xuzhou and Huangzhou, so when the Chinese New Year came, everyone carried pigs and carried wine to pay New Year greetings to him.
After receiving it, Su Shi instructed his family to cut the meat into squares, burn it red and crisp, and then distributed it to the migrant workers who took part in dredging the West Lake. Everyone was amazed after eating it, and all the meat he sent was affectionately called "Dongpo Meat".
4. Taibai Duck and Li Bai
Li Bai, a poet in the Tang Dynasty, lived in Sichuan with his father when he was a child and didn't leave Sichuan until he was 25 years old. When he was in Sichuan, he loved to eat stewed duck, a famous local dish. Later, Li Bai was favored by Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty, and he was named a bachelor of Hanlin in Beijing. Based on the stewed and steamed duck he had eaten when he was young, he made a steamed fat duck for Xuanzong, who appreciated it very much and named it "Taibai Duck", which has continued to this day.
5. Xi Shi Tongue and Xi Shi
Legend has it that in the Spring and Autumn Period, Gou Jian, the king of Yue, wiped out the State of Wu with the help of the beauty of Xi Shi, and then the king of Yue wanted to take Xi Shi back to China, but the queen of Yue was jealous of Xi Shi's beauty and was afraid that she would be favored after her return, so she asked someone to sink Xi Shi at the bottom of the river. After her death, Xi Shi turned into this shellfish "sand clam", expecting someone to find her. She spat out clove uvula and complained about grievances. People made this kind of shellfish into dishes and named it Xi Shi Tongue.
