The roads in Xi'an are square and easy to navigate. When traveling to Xi'an, you can choose one day to visit the city wall and the scenic spots inside the city wall, one or two days to visit the Big and Small Wild Goose Pagodas and the Shaanxi Museum area outside the city wall, and another day to go east to visit the Terracotta Warriors and Horses, Huaqing Pool.
1. Terracotta Warriors and Horses: One of the eight wonders of the world, a large-scale ruins
One of the eight wonders of the world, Qin Shi Huang’s Terracotta Warriors and Horses Museum. The museum is divided into Pit 1, 2, and 3 and the Qin Shihuang Mausoleum Museum. The most spectacular one is Pit 1. There are more than 8,000 terracotta warriors and pottery figurines in the whole museum. There are as many as 6,000 in Pit 1. They are also the legendary cannon fodder soldiers with wonderful characteristics. Xiao, each soldier looks different, and his identity can be judged by his hair and boots. Legend has it that the idiom "arrogant" is related to this.
Repairing the pottery figurines takes at least 3 months and can take up to two years, and the cost is astonishingly expensive. The cost of museum tickets is mostly used for the repair and maintenance of the pottery figurines. I am shocked and proud of the superb skills of ancient times. At the same time, the spirit of modern craftsmen deserves our respect. I hope more people can see such wonders
Tour duration
2 days In half an hour, you can fully visit Pit No. 1, Pit No. 2, and Pit No. 3, as well as the Bronze Carriage and Horse Exhibition Hall.
2. Xi'an Ancient City Wall: The most complete existing city wall in China, and cycling around it
The most worthwhile thing is to take pictures of this city wall from three angles: far away, near, and lined up on the city wall. The ancient city wall is well-preserved, and you can ride bicycles and walk on the ancient city wall. I personally recommend cycling here. Riding on stone bricks hundreds of years ago is also a very special experience.
Recommended tour duration
The total length of the ancient city wall is nearly 14 kilometers. There are three ways to tour around the city wall: walking for about 3 hours, riding for more than an hour, and taking a battery car for more The car tour also takes about 1 hour.
If you have time and energy, it is recommended to experience the fun of cycling around the city wall. After all, this is not common in China. But if you are pressed for time, you can go up from the more lively south gate, walk around and take pictures, and then find a nearby city gate to go down. If you only want to experience half a circle, most people choose to go up the north gate and go down the south gate.
3. Bell Tower and Drum Tower: Xi'an landmarks and night view spots
Here you can hear the majesty of the Tang Dynasty in the past and the atmosphere of embracing all rivers. But what you see may only be the protected ruins and modern urban construction on the ground. What you may see is just a few ancient buildings scattered in the center of the city. But what we can hear does cover five thousand years.
Recommended tour duration
Tour the two buildings together, 1 hour to 1.5 hours is enough.
4. Shaanxi History Museum: A glimpse of ten thousand years, a treasure house of China, a palace of art and history
Look at Beijing with a thousand years of history, and look at Xi'an with five thousand years of history!
When you come to Xi'an, the ancient capital of the thirteen dynasties, in addition to the must-visit Terracotta Warriors and Horses Museum, there is another must-visit attraction, which is the Shaanxi History Museum. The first thing that catches your eye when you come to the museum is its majesty. The exterior building looks like a palace from the Tang Dynasty from a distance.
The museum has a collection of more than 1.7 million treasures. All kinds of rare treasures will dazzle you. The most memorable parts are the Han and Tang Dynasties, which are also the essence of the entire museum. Take a look around I have to admire the wisdom of our ancestors, it is amazing! It is worthy of being one of the four major museums in China
The exhibition hall implements "free but not free admission". A limited number of 4,000 free admission tickets will be issued every day for a limited time, while supplies last, and you can collect them with your ID card.
Closed every Monday
Recommended tour time
A more in-depth tour will take more than 3 hours, so it is recommended to spend half a day.
5. Big Wild Goose Pagoda: Xuanzang Sutra Repository, Musical Fountain, Leisure Plaza
Da Ci’en Temple, a must-visit place in Xi’an, is probably the Big Wild Goose Pagoda for those who have never been to Xi’an. I have only heard of the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, but not the Da Ci'en Temple, because the Big Wild Goose Pagoda is not only a landmark of Xi'an, but also a historical symbol of the ancient city of Xi'an! The current Big Wild Goose Pagoda is located in the Daci'en Temple Heritage Park. In fact, except for the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, the rest of the buildings here are newly built!
The Big Wild Goose Pagoda is the only building left from the Daci'en Temple in the Tang Dynasty. It has survived earthquakes and fires for thousands of years, which is really a miracle in the history of Chinese architecture. The Big Wild Goose Pagoda was extremely famous in the Tang Dynasty. So many people only know about the Big Wild Goose Pagoda but don't know about the Da Ci'en Temple.
Recommended tour duration
Climbing the Big Wild Goose Pagoda plus the tour can be completed within 1 hour. The musical fountain starts at 20:30 and lasts for 40 minutes.
The musical fountain in the North Square is one of the must-experience items in the Big Wild Goose Pagoda. Many people choose to go to the Big Wild Goose Pagoda in the afternoon, visit ancient times, climb up to see the distance, and then watch the 40-minute musical fountain show in the evening.
