9.Zhang Pu Village
brief introduction
The people who live here are descended from ancient Arabs. Although they have intermarried with the local Han nationality for generations, the legacy of Central Asia still exists, mainly in oyster shell houses and headdresses of women in Beipu. The women in Beipu put flowers on a tray, wearing lavender earrings, blouses and wide-leg pants, forming a unique style. The headdress of "wearing hairpin wreaths and inserting ivory chopsticks" has spread from Central Asia since the Song Dynasty. Zhongpu is an important port at the starting point of Quanzhou Maritime Silk Road. Most merchant ships loaded with silk and porcelain set sail from Zhongpu, sailed along the coast of southern Fujian to Nanyang, passed through the Indian Ocean and the east coast of Africa, and then unloaded at the north shore. When returning home, if there is no cargo in the cabin, an empty ship will be formed, and the unstable center of gravity is not conducive to navigation, so the crew put the shells scattered from the sea on the ship and ballast them, and then piled them on the seaside of Liaopu.
