What's the reason there aren't that many fast food options in Italy?

One fact you need to know about Italians: they wait for their food...a good pasta needs at least 10 minutes to cook, and a well-cooked pizza 5 minutes.

So we prefer waiting to having food heated in the microwave.

Oh yes, we have fast food: Taglio Pizza (usually takeaway), Tramezzini, Napolitano Cuoppo, Arancino o Arancina (depends if you are in Catania or Palermo), Pane Cunzatu, Love Supplies

e crocchette, oh, there’s a lot of fried stuff anyway!

In Rome we have McDonald's, Burger King, KFC...but I still prefer waiting for my food!

Note: I'm glad my answer worked out, the fast food options I showed here are just a small sample of what you can find in Italy, each region has its own local food that is all different.

Do you want to join an Italian food tour? You will need at least 3 months to taste our specialties! Wow! Tons of views and tons of answers! Now I want to add something about my city - Rome.

In Rome, "Pizza Bianca" (white pizza, preferably regular) is the king of fast food.

Pizza Bianca is a little different from regular pizza in that it's made from Italian bread dough (just flour, water, salt and yeast), rolled into a thin layer and cooked with olive oil and grained salt: Once

You have pizza bianca and you have the basic choice of fast food, it is usually available in all bakeries and you can stuff anything into it: the most common and usually cheaper ones are pizza and motte

Mortazza (or, as the Romans would say, pizza e mortazza): The best part is when the pizza is still hot and the morta morta melts inside, giving off a wonderful aroma and you can eat the mortazza

You can make Terra Fragrant Belly without the pistachios, the result is always amazing.

One of the best is pizza with Porchetta: What is Porchetta? Porchetta is a heavenly, whole head of boneless pork (usually a female pig), roasted overnight and seasoned with salt, pepper, garlic and mustard.

Season with rosemary.

Warm pizza and warm porchetta are the best pairings.
